KDE Partition Manager fail, when cancelled very long boot
gb flag

Hello I am new to Linux.

Today I tried to split partition into two, but it failed. To my surprise it still works, and it seems none of space is missing, files also look like working good. What I realized is my boot takes twice or triple the time it used to before.

I used KDE Partition Manager. I use Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS. I tried to update kernel.

I tried to look for solution, but found nothing that could ...

Error message appears every time I start terminal, but not caused by .bashrc
tn flag

Whenever I start up a terminal, I am greeted with this message:

i#: command not found

However I can confirm that this is NOT caused by something in my .bashrc. I changed the name of my bashfile and created an empty one in it's place, and while all the other customization of my terminal is gone, this message remains.

I'm assuming there's some other files that are opened/read by terminal when it launches b ...

Keyboard changing special keys
gr flag

I just installed standard Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS as a second OS in my old PC, and can't seem to make the keyboard to work as expected.

Whenever I press the [ctrl-L] [win] [alt] [alt-gr] [ctrl-R] or [shift-R] the system thinks I'm pressing [shift-L].

Therefore I can't use most keyboard shortcuts, and since it's a Spanish keyboard I can't even type some characters such as @ that require a combination with ...

Keeping your emojis up to date in Ubuntu 20.04 - a better way? Some PPA?
pe flag

I was about to send a message through WhatsApp Web in Firefox, and I wanted to illustrate it with a Saluting Face emoji - . To my disappointment, this showed as a hex box. It's too recent. I looked around and ended up installing a newer version of fonts-noto-color-emoji. It works wonderfully, the newer emojis show OK.

My question is, is there a PPA for newer versions of this package so I wouldn't have ...

Joint host and guest access to second hard disk sometimes deletes files
in flag

With a Windows VirtualBox guest inside an Ubuntu 18.04 host, plus a secondary hard drive (/dev/sdb) with two partitions, it seems that, by allowing both guest and host to access /dev/sbd2, I sometimes make the mistake of mounting it on the host side during a guest session and changing something. When I do, several files may be deleted from /dev/sbd2. Sometimes I can recover them by running chkdsk

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
