How are people managing using same Ubuntu 20.04 computer when using a 1080p monitor then later using a 4K monitor ?

Its a pain to spend time tweaking the apps to handle this transition ... does Ubuntu provide the notion of profiles or workspaces to keep these setting distinct ?

How to know if ubuntu is not detecting my nvidia or is a hardware issue?

I had to taken my laptop (msi GP62MVR) to repair and had an electrical issue. The reparation was successful (or at least that's what I think). I wanted to connect my TV via hdmi and found out that I didn't have the nvidia drivers.

First I checked in "Additional dirvers" and it's blank: enter image description here

Then I checked ubuntu-drivers devices and shows nothing

I use Ubuntu 20.04. I cannot use an external monitor. How can I make it work?

When I plug an external monitor (which is perfectly working with a Windows laptop), I cannot get it to work for Ubuntu 20.04's laptop.

Here, it is the result of typing "lspci | grep VGA" in the terminal:

Simulate the same mounting behavior as when connecting a device via GUI, but via bash

When I normally connect a device, it automatically mounts it in /media/$USER/$LABEL and when I unplug it from the GUI, it automatically deletes the $LABEL folder in /media/$USER.
Instead when I use for example the mount command (I don't know if there are alternative commands), I am forced to create a mountpoint and to specify it together with the name of the disk.
How do I just specify the disk name in ...

While $value != [a..b]

I'm trying to write a function that rewrites a value according to a user's choice. So far it looks like this:

while [[ $code_id != [1-28] ]]; do

echo "1. A"
echo "2. B"
echo "3. C"
echo "4. D"

echo "28. Z"
done
echo "INFO: Code is $code_id."

The user should write a chosen number (1-28). But as a result, code returns me, for a choice. I understand what reason in a co ...

Launcher blank after unlocking screen
fi flag

Since upgrading to 21.10, I've had the following issue. When the screen locks due to being idle, when I unlock I get a black launcher (See screenshot). Furthermore, opening Activities gives me a black screen with no icons, and I have to log out and back in again to get everything back to normal.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
