A question please: My PC is "freezing", the program that I am using at that moment does not respond on mouse or keyboard, system gets completely stuck. The program can be Firefox, LibreOffice, or just moving a file.

The PC is dual boot, I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 next to Windows 7. Using Windows 7 on the PC there is no problem, so I do not suspect the keyboard or mouse itself. Keyboard has ...

WebApp does not work when VPN is enabled
in flag

I am running a WebApp on port 8080. The server running this app also needs to have an outbound VPN connected at all times. I am using OpenVPN on Ubuntu 20 server.

Once the VPN is connected I can no longer access the webaapp, for example on https://servername.com:8080

I assume this is because of routing. The web server is responding to my browser via the VPN which makes my browser abort the connection beca ...

Ubuntu 20.04 swap keys on apple magic keyboard of backticks and tilde sign
za flag

I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 from 16.04 and noticed that the tilde and backticks key has been moved to the key to left of number 1(!) and underneath ESC (sorry, I googled for the name but didn't find anything). I am used to the old key mappings (muscle memory) so I would like to remap them back to what it was before so that when I press the key I get backticks and when I press SHIFT + the key I get ~. # create a dummy folder to check script execution
mkdir /home /user_name/dummy_folder_00

# kill previous instances of the system

upgrade OpenSSH 8.2p1 => 8.5p1
cn flag

I am trying to upgrade OpenSSH version to 8.5p1 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. When running these commands I get the following

ssh -V
OpenSSH_8.5p1, OpenSSL 1.1.1f 31 Mar 2020
dpkg -s openssh-client | grep '^Version:'
Version: 1:8.2p1-4ubuntu0.2

Security metrics reports that it is still using version 1.8.2p1. What is the correct method to update OpenSSH to 8.5p1?

External display. "Out of range" after power saving
kz flag

I bought a LG 24MP59G-P 24" monitor and connected to my laptop via HDMI.

It works fine. And I'm using a "join displays" configuration, having the new monitor as the primary display.

But after power saving "blank screen", it usually stops working and says: "out of range"

Then I have to switch to text mode terminal (CTRL+ALT+F4) and then go back. Or try to solve it by locking the session, and loging in  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
