How do I connect Windows 11 and Ubuntu Server through a male-to-male USB cable?

I have a Windows 11 computer and a Ubuntu Server computer. How do I file transfer between these two with a USB 3 male-to-male cable? Whenever I plug the two computers together the Ubuntu Server spams me with the error "Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?" and the Windows computer gives me nothing.

Gnome Remote Desktop Blank Screen

I am running Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and I am attempting to use the built in Remote Desktop to connect to the computer.

However, I am running into an issue where when I connect the display is black.

I have previously used XRDP but wanted to use this as it will allow me to access the same session as before.

Can anyone help me with this?

Whenever I tried to open my ubuntu settings, the gnome control window doesn't open anymore. I reinstalled it again, but when I try to execute the command below, it's shows the following message.

sudo apt install works, but sudo apt-get purge --autoremove leaving a lot of junk on my system. Can't remove them

I just installed neofetch using sudo apt install neofetch. When I went to uninstall it with sudo apt-get purge --autoremove, I noticed there were many packages that it never removed along with a bunch of fonts. I had to go back and autoremove each package it left behind, freeing up 10MB of space, it still can't remove the font folders because (folder not empty). Am I using these commands wrong or ...

Ubuntu 23.04 now boots to a TTY

My laptop at home runs Ubuntu 23.04, and has worked well for some time. Last night I was prompted to do an update, which I did as usual using apt from a terminal, and all appeared to complete correctly.

I am trying the following way

  1. Download the stable release

Ubuntu installed on a Macbook - no sound, not wake up

After installing Ubuntu 20.04 on a Macbook, it has no sound. I did try to follow several guidance found on AskUbuntu.com but still no sound.

In addition, when the laptop goes into sleep mode, it doesn't wake up. The is a message on the screen "touch any keys" but none of the key stroke could wake it up. I tried all letter keys, number keys, F keys, shift, control, space bar, enter, delete, etc... ...

Am joining the ubuntu machine to our active directory server when i type the command id username@domain it is showing me the no such user error. I have checked the sssd.config file and change the value. use_fully_qualified_names = True to true but still it's not working.

Any suggestions please ?

Empty my trash is taking forever

My ubuntu system has become full So I analyze the usage and I found a folder (with subfolders) large enough that I don't need. So I sent them to trash with the "Files" interface. And now to recover the space I want to empty my trash.

Problem is this is taking forever. The file just don't get deleted. Is there a faster way to empty my trash?

I downloaded the VS Code and i extensively use VS Code terminal in windows because that contain me into one window with out me needing to go to external shell or bash.

In VS code terminal, using git bash as terminal, in windows i used to be able to see which branch i am on. But in ubuntu, i am not able to.

I was learning vim editor from ssh terminal and messing with syntax highlighting and colorschemes and noticed my console colors were way off.

I can test 256 colors in PuTTy using,
