I have been using personal .Xmodmap keyboard settings since Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 20.04. But in Ubuntu 23.04 the OS constantly overwrites these settings by LOCALE ones and I need to restart them by "xmodmap .Xmodmap" each time. How to fix my personal keyboard .Xmodmap settings?

I updated my Dell e6530 running Xubuntu 22.04 and it wouldn't reboot. I did a clean install of 22.04.2 and it rebooted fine until I installed the downloaded updates. I get to the Ubuntu splash screen and the cursor in the upper left hand corner stops blinking and nothing else happens. I checked for bios updates but mine is current.

Audio quirks after pavucontrol install on i3wm

Have been experimenting with i3wm on a Ubuntu 22.04 system.

Installed pavucontrol on i3wm to control sound settings. After moving back to GNOME, adjusting via the Settings menu (Settings->Sound->Output) no longer impacted how sound was output (eg, opening up the Sound menu and changing output device to 'Analog Output' didn't send audio to specified device).

I just installed zoom by downloading the deb file from here https://zoom.us/download. Then I installed it using

Why is my ethernet port not coming up upon bootup on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS?

I have had Ubuntu 22.04 LTS working properly since its release a year ago. Now, after running my daily updates, the single ethernet port I use (eno1) no longer comes up upon bootup. If I go to Settings -> Network in Gnome (42.5) I can select the port and it instantly comes up and works fine. So I guess what I am asking is which service upon bootup commands the ethernet port to become active?

Mic is not working on the zoom call only

I have installed Zoom in two ways:

  • by terminal and
  • by the available app in the store

Both have the same issue. The microphone is working on my laptop, but it is not working in the Zoom setting, even though it shows the mic name. In the Zoom setting, the mic is not muted, but still, the issue is coming.

Device turns off when not plugged in?

The Laptop only turns on when plugged in, always shows 0% and turns off when I pull out the power plug. No matter how much time I charge, It always shows 0%.
