I have a 2 OSDs ceph cluster. The initial size of backing volumes was 16GB. Then I shutdown OSDs, did a lvextend on both, and turn OSDs on again. Now ceph osd df shows:

ceph osd df

But ceph -s show it's stucked at active+remapped+backfill_toofull for 50 pgs: ceph -s

I tried to understand the mechanism by reading CRUSH algorithm but seems a lot of effort and knowledge is required. It would be very appreciated if anyone ...

Kernel Panic and Bad page state in process swapper error
as flag

A few days ago Ubuntu froze and I hard reboot the laptop and when I wanted to boot Ubuntu again this message showed up. enter image description here

After searching a lot on the internet, I tried to boot with older kernels and also I booted Ubuntu with different grub parameters (like nomodeset), and every time I faced different kernel panic errors as you can see (and sometimes "Fixing recursive fault but a reboot is needed"):

Nautilus open text file with vim and make terminal persist after closing
de flag

I would like to open a (text) file with Vim in nautilus. This part is easy: Right-Click -> Open With Vim starts a terminal with vim inside running, file open already.

When I close vim, the terminal closes too. I would like the terminal to remain open, with the working directory set to the directory the file is in.

I'm sure there is a simple way to achieve this by creating a custom bash script  ...

Screen flickering on Ubuntu 20.04 with Nvidia 495 under high CPU
us flag

I'm having a strange issue for the past couple of months.

I run an Ubuntu 20.04 on a Lenovo Y740 laptop (RTX 2070). With the latest Nvidia drivers (currently, I'm testing with 495), I'm having an issue with screen flickering when the CPU is on high load. The heavier the load, the heavier the flickering.

I captured this video to demonstrate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cquGtqDOyUE

Age old python install issues, update python3-distils

I've had this problem many times and not been able to solve. I've just manually compiled and installed python 3.10 on ubuntu 20.04, for some reason think that latest is likely to be the best however with python this is debatable!

Now when I try to do some updates I get common errors such as these, suggests the system is not finding 'py_compile.py' ?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
