Microstuttering (mouse/keyboard) after upgrading to 21.10
cn flag

Recently, I upgraded my Ubuntu 21.04 to 21.10.

Since then, I sometimes experience micro stuttering for both mouse and keyboard - sometimes the cursor lags for a fraction of a second, or a typed symbol appears with a little delay.

Dmesg is full of messages like these:

Ubuntu 20.04 filesystem checks with every boot
in flag

I have a dual boot (Windows 10 on an SSD and Ubuntu 20.04 on an HDD) and I am using an Acer laptop.

I have had this problem of filesystem check for a couple of months now, Ubuntu does a filesystem check at boot every time I boot the machine! I tried some of the fixes I found such as fsck.mode=skip but that command does not exist on my system!

Ubuntu 21.10 random freezes after recent update

I was facing random freezes on previous versions of Ubuntu(16/18 LTS) and few months ago I tried non-LTS 21.10. Since then my troubles disappeared miraculously..until one of recent upgrades. In case of HW bug suspicion, I have Windows 10 in dual boot and it works fine for 2years already. GUI including cursor doesn't response. Wifi (Intel Wireless AC 8260) only works when ethernet ist plugged in
fr flag

A strange problem. Wifi only seems to work, when I boot Ubuntu with the ethernet cable plugged in. When the cable is not plugged in, Ubuntu behaves like there is no physical Wifi card/module.

This boot-with-ethernet-cable procedure doesn't work, when the cable isn't connected to a router/network on the other end.

After booting, the ethernet cable can be unplugged and Wifi continues to work just fine ...

https://ubuntu.com/blog/ubuntu-server-20-04 suggests that IMDSv2 support for AWS is introduced in Ubuntu server version 20.04. Does that mean, 18.04 version of Ubuntu doesn't support IMDSv2?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
