Is there a fix for keyboard freezing in Ubuntu Studio 20.04.x?
pk flag

Can any of users share a workaround/fix for keyboard input stopping from time to time in Ubuntu Studio 20.04 LTS, I would apreciate the suggested fixes.

That is the exact question - to share the solution or a workaround to this annoyance.

P.S. it persists across any kernel updates for a long time.

System:

  • Ubuntu Studio 20.04.x LTS (.1 initially)
  • XORG X11 xorg-server 2:1.20.11-1ubuntu1~20.04.2

I have a .pfx certificate and the password for it. Also, I have a server name (like "remote.server.com"), and my login and password. I need to somehow connect to the remote desktop, but I don't know anything.

In Windows, I installed this certificate (just double-click it), then entered the server name and password in Cisco Anyconnect (login had already been there), and after just running RDP.

But no ...

Recovery of failing HDD with ddrescue: "remaining time 37days"?
kr flag

I've got this important 600GB music collection on a failing external HDD, which give me problems for accessing the files, not always but often.

I've started ddrescue to copy the whole drive to a healthy one, and after 12hours running it gives me a remaining time of 37 days.

Any advice? I'm a total beginner with IT stuff.

Is it possible to connect an ubuntu laptop to a USB-C docking station over a USB-C to USB-A adapter and get signal in the monitors?

I have a Dell WD15 docking station, and one of my laptops is a bit older so it does not have a USB-c port. When connecting that hp laptop (Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS) I get the usb and audio connections, but there is no signal for the monitors. Is there a way to make this setup work, or is this hopeless?

Change profile of all running Gnome Terminals on the fly over command line

Currently I'm working on a script which changes my gnome terminal theme depending on daytime. I do this with the command:

It is working well, but the new color theme is only visible when I start new terminal sessions. I'm looking for a way to also change the profile of all already running gnome terminals. It is possible via t ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
