Add IPv6 Loopback Adress on Linux Ubuntu
us flag

I know the way for IPv4 addresses:

sudo ifconfig lo:0 127.0.0.2 netmask 255.0.0.0 up

where lo:0 is the new identifier and 127.0.0.2 is the new IPv4 loopback address, but for IPv6 it seems to be a lot different. One should use the ULA address space, which is another uncertainty as I've read different specifications for this space.

The laptop overall for gaming and stuff is great. But I bought it for professional use and thought being such a good brand they’ll provide linux support which is very essential for me but they didn’t. So if you wanna dual boot don’t buy this

Ubuntustudio application menu, games category

Since Ubuntustudio switched to the plasma-desktop with 20.10 we have a new organized application menu which divides the games category in subcategories.

This is nice if one install a lot of games. But it increases the number of clicks you need to launch a game. I install or play games only occasionally, so it makes more sense for me to have all games in the games category and not in any subcatego ...

system drive is a 2nd hand sata ssd, a Crucial CT2000BX500 2TB BX500, which I have had running fine in this system for 2 years. Windows 10 is installed on the first half of the ssd, and boots and runs just fine. The built in Windows tool Diskmgmt.msc reports that the ubuntu drive partitions are healthy, but what can Windows know about Ext4 partitions apart from diddly-squat?

Trying to use TLP to recalibrate the batteries on my thinkpad T470s. I am following the instructions here I am running Ubuntu 21.10, I have disabled secure boot in both the bios and using sudo mokutil --disable-verification as I have seen that this could be causing the issue. Any thoughts on how I can get this working? I am decent with linux, but still have a lot to learn lol.

NTFS HDD as a data storage for docker containers

I have a NTFS HDD on which I have various docker-compose setups (e.g. postgres). The NTFS HDD is mounted as NTFS from Ubuntu and when I bind a folder from the HDD into a docker container, when the container wants to do chown or chmod it gets Operation not permitted.

Many docker images (as per good practices) will use a non-root user to run so they need to have the appropriate permissions on their dire ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
