Install gcc/g++ 6 on Ubuntu 21.04

I am trying to compile Cuda 10.2 and predictably gcc-10 will not work to compile it. When using 20.04 it was simple, add bionic repo, update, install, update-alternatives. Using 21.04 I cannot get anything to work.

I tried with both xenial and bionic 'main' and 'universe' repos, which throws an error about the PUBKEY. I got the PUBKEYs from the ubuntu keyserver and update the package list, no err ...

New to Linux and the only way I can get this to work is by using the awk command unfortunately the main directions specify to not use awk.

this is what I got

grep '\s22\s' hw0206.txt | awk {'print $4'}

Conky starts, but doesn't display (21.10)
cn flag

Was running 20.04 and conky worked fine. Double upgraded to 21.10 and now after reboot there's no conky display. I have it as a Startup Application as "conky -p 30". A 'ps' shows that indeed /usr/bin/conky is running, and if I touch my .conkyrc file, then the display shows.

Any suggestions?

Update: I upgrade another box from 20.04 to 21.10 and conky does the same thing - I can see it running but un ...

Need to scrub my HD (maybe)
de flag

I'm new at this, so please stick with amateur terms as much as possible! My hard disk contains a botched Windows 10 installation and Ubuntu 20.04. This was a dual boot system until I tried to do a clean Win10 install and that wrecked everything. Dual boot no longer works. I'm currently running from a USB stick. I'm at the point where I just want to use the entire HD for Ubuntu.

USB stick extra folders appearing, what is this?

So on my USB stick I had a problem to where I could not write to it. I could copy files from it, however I could not change anything on it. This is not my main question but part of the issue I was having. A post I read about this earlier allowed the person to write to the drive with root permissions. However, I could not even do that. In order to fix this I had to copy all the files off the USB dri ...

I have 2 monitors, a 28" Samsung UE590 and a 24" DELL. After I suspended my desktop, I found that only the DELL monitor is shown, and it was in much lower resolution.

I checked xrandr, but I got:

Problems in logging into Launchpad and Ubuntu One
us flag

I can't log into Ubuntu One because of my Launchpad account, which I don't remember. So how can I straighten out this validation mess? Really, I just want to use Pastebin.

I seem to be caught in some kind of validation loop. If I try to reset my password, I'm told that I already have a Launchpad account after I go through the reset-password loop yet again.

The missing repo is https://github.com/patjak/bcwc_pcie.git
I have searched in Github for bcwc_pcie, can't find a file that matches that exactly.

AD user login error using GDM-password with sssd?
kg flag

We have a Ubuntu 18.04 machine that had an issue where AD users were unable to log in with their credentials. I found a error that pointed to a GPO that was causing issue. A quick search showed that adding ad_gpo_ignore_unreadable = True would fix the solution and it did. Users were able to logon properly.

Faster forward to today, and the issue is happening again. I've looked at var/log/auth.conf

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
