Published .Net Core website not working with Systemd
in flag

I'm deploying a ASP .Net core app to my webserver. When I run the systemd service it binds to port 5000 and I get a nginx 502 error. When I run the service manually using "dotnet Activecalls.dll" it binds to port 5001 for https which is what I want and the website works correctly. Here is the systemd service:

How to access a cloned VirtualBox Ubuntu Server via SSH to get a different Address

I installed a headless Ubuntu server build on VirtualBox, and once I fully prepared it to work, I cloned it to have a second, exactly the same, instance. However, the clone shares it's CMD SSH access and since that happened, I cannot access it.

Edit: I cannot access it while the other is accessed at the same time. If I turn one off, the other works.

Is it possible to connect to my education onedrive with nautilus?
gh flag
Eaj

I currently use an email issued by my university(it is the typical "edu" account) but, every time I tried to use the settings app to connect to my microsoft account I get this error. I have no problems with my google accounts and they do reflect accordingly in nautilus. I just want the same experience for my onedrive as well as I like the convenience of using my own file manager to manage onedrive.

I monitored the google ip that accessed my server for a few years and identified these masks: 66.249.64.0/19 66.102.0.0/20 64.233.160.0/19 34.64.0.0/10 216.58.192.0/19 74.125.0.0/16

Then I created this script in php which I include in all my websites.

Best practice for webserver setup with no root user

I apologize if this is messy and I have been searching google for best practices but can't seem to find an answer.

I am setting up a web server without a root user. I wanted to add a user with sudo privileges so they can do anything that needs to be done on the server though command line. That part I accomplished.

The advice I need is how to structure the server so the user can upload files to the w ...

Ubuntu Gnome shows desktop momentarely after wake before showing lock screen

Every time I open the lid of my Dell XPS, I can see the desktop including anything I've left open for about 5 seconds before I am shown the lock screen. This only happens when I'm running an NVIDIA profile. When running Intel graphics, everything works as expected.
This is a significant security concern as anyone is able to see the contents of my laptop before the screen gets locked. What steps c ...

Boot stuck on HP logo after initramfs fsck
ng flag

Update: I bit the bullet and did a fresh install, so this is no longer an issue. I don't think I'd consider it "solved" though.

Went to fire up my computer this morning and was met with the BusyBox initramfs prompt. After running fsck on both sda1 (my HDD) and sdb2 (my SSD with Ubuntu installation) my HP Pavillion went straight into booting, but gets stuck on the HP logo on black screen.

No graphics after suspend, but I still can blind-log-in

Suspend works normally fine. That is, one failure/month.

When it fails, I just get a black screen. At first not even the backlight is on, but after some seconds it turns on, but no graphic elements appear, not even waiting some minutes.

I can still Ctrl+Alt+F3 and blindly login. I'm sure that this is working, because I could run touch file and play sound.mp4 with success. Trying to suspend again does no ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
