Ubuntu 20.04 LTS: Wifi adapter not found

I have a Lenovo P14s Gen2. I have dual boot with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. In the last weeks I only used Ubuntu, so I did not boot in Windows in a long time.

Until today, I was able to connect to the internet using both the ethernet cable and the wifi adapter. However, this morning I was faced with the error "No Wifi adapter found".

Fail to compile linux kernel after 5.13
cn flag

I've successfully compiled linux source and built into .deb few months ago. The process roughly like:

  1. copy existed config file into current folder (such as: cp /boot/config-xxxxx-generic .config)
  2. make menuconfig
  3. make -j4 deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-custom

.... then it takes long time to compile

Recently, I fail at step 3. The error message shows:

How to increase DPI of vncviewer?

vncviewer doesn't scale with the DPI of your display, I can't make out anything on this tiny thing: vncviewer GUI

I'm having eye strain from that. The GDK_SCALE=x or GDK_DPI_SCALE=x approaches don't work.

How do I prevent my laptop screen from dimming when charger is connected and disconnected? (Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS)
cn flag

When I plug in or disconnect my charger from my laptop (Acer Inspire 7 N19C5), running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, the brightness changes. I would like the brightness to stay the same when the power is connected or disconnected.

I read that changing this to false: org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim to false might help, but it's already set to false as I get this:

I lost the function [Ctrl] + [Up/Down] to move the text cursor through paragraphs, as in any other text editor.

I just selected the option to override Kate shortcuts to use [Ctrl] + [V] inside VI to --Block Selection--: Settings → Configure Kate… → Editing → Vi Input Mode: Enabled Override Kate commands on VI mode.

Adobe RGB Monitor behaves like sRGB under Xorg & HW Acceleration

Having a monitor that supports 100% of Adobe RGB color space. Used it for a while with Xorg and NVIDIA GPU after I found out that effective color gamut used was sRGB.

I have noticed that with disabled hardware acceleration, colors on Xorg are just fine - Adobe RGB is being covered. I've also tried using Wayland, and since NVIDIA GPU doesn't support running Wayland, I have tried installing an AMD  ...

Moving my finger 3 cm over the touchpad moves the cursor across approximately half the screen, regardless how quickly/slowly I do it.

That means I either can't easily hit a click target (current settings) or can't quickly move across the screen. Normally, I'm used to touchpads moving "faster" on fast movements (i.e. moving your finger quickly by 3 cm moves the cursor across the entire screen, mov ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
