Ubuntu Boot Issue - Purple Screen
ph flag

I am having issues installing/booting Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my 2009 MacBookPro.

I am able to run Ubuntu 20.04 LTS from the 'trial' mode but when I install Ubuntu on my 1tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD and try to boot I get a purple screen.

I've tried installing Ubuntu several times.  I also edited the grub file to add 'nomodeset' to the grub boot loader variable: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT, without success. ...

I wanted a better computer so I just bought the laptop.)

Running steamcmd on BOX86 in armhf chroot
mx flag

I want to run a game server on my raspberry pi 4 (4GB) using steamcmd. I have already set up a chroot and box86 to run a teamspeak 3 server.

I am following these instructions and I am stuck on step 8, that is running steamcmd.sh.

I have altered the file to run box86, however whenever I run the shell script, it seems to update itself before executing, reverting my edits.

#!/usr/bin/env bash

Add ubuntu dock to 2 monitors, but not all
ky flag

I have a 7 monitor system. I don't like the dock on all my displays, and I find myself rotating it between 2 of them trying to figure out where its best. Is there a way I can configure the dock to appear on just 2 of the displays. I see a feature that allows me to use it on all of them, I think that'd be a bit much.

Thank you

USB headset not being listed as sound card

I have HyperX CloudX Flight USB headset and it's not recognized as a sound card. The USB dongle has a green LED which blinks whenever the headset is not connected and stays solid when it's connected. It seems that the device is recognized by the system but cannot operate normally. When I plug the dongle in, its LED stays off.

I've compared the routes added by vm-bhyve and by bhyve,to try to understand why the first one allows any linux distro to connect to internet and the second one, doesn't,and I found th ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
