Can't work out theright keyboard type and layout for new keyboard
ph flag

I recently bought a keychron C1 keyboard. I can't get all the keys to do what they say they should do on them.

For example:

  • the current ` and ~ key and shift produces ¬ instead of ~
  • the | and \ key produces # and with shift ~

This means currently I don't have a way of using pipe or backslash so have to reach over to my laptop keyboard.

I have Matlab (.mat) files in a particular folder. In a text document, I have some IDs list marked as 0 and 1. First I need to match the IDs and separate the mat files that are marked as '1'. For your reference, I detailed it below with a sample set.

For instance: Assume that I have these files in a folder

HDMI monitor not detected Ubuntu 20.04 Dell G7
jp flag

After updating to NVIDIA drivers from Nouveau my HDMI port no longer detects monitors. Tested on other cables and monitors but still doesn't work. The usb-c port is able to detect and use monitors. When using Nouveau drivers both ports can detect and use monitors. I'd like to be able to use the HDMI port when using NVIDIA graphics on the main display.

Can I remove something from the update list permanently?

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 (64 bit, Desktop).

I currently don't want WINE to update, so I always disable it from the update list: enter image description here

But is there a way to permanently remove it from this list? And if so, can I somehow add it back to that list again, if I want to enable Updates for it?

I don't want to discuss about how important Updates are, I know that. The reason why I don't want to update it is: I'm a musici ...

Difference between Anaconda prompt and command prompt

I recently swapped over from Windows to Ubuntu.

In Windows when I did any sort of coding I used the anaconda prompt which was separate to the command prompt to run any commands relevant to python.

However when switching over to Ubuntu, there is only one terminal onto which I have downloaded Anaconda. It now shows the same format as anaconda prompt in windows i.e. beginning with (base).

When my internet service provider has an outage I have to restart my server to regain internet access.

All my other devices seem to reconnect just fine via WiFi.

What could be the problem?

sudo apt upgrade doesn't proceed because of cuda
vn flag

I am not very informed about how ubuntu (18.04) works, so I have the following question. I want to do usual sudo apt upgrade. I have 126 packages to be upgraded, the half of which are cuda packages for deep learning. They are not being upgraded, but this is not the main question, because of them my other packages are not being upgraded as well. Is there a solution to this?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
