Blank display after startup and Idle time (Ubuntu 20.04)
cn flag

This weird issue just started. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 with a GTX 1070 GPU. When the idle timer kicks in and disables the video signal, it doesn't reactivate when I move the mouse or press a key. The led on the display turns on for a second and the screen flashes "no signal" before shutting off again. If I continue moving the mouse around, this will happen repeatedly--display turns on, flashes "no sign ...

Computer boots into GRUB after installing Ubunutu 20.04 as dual boot option
lc flag

Exactly as the title says. I can type exit and it continues to the boot options and load windows or linux as usual. I tried updating my graphics drivers as I saw that was a solution to a similar issue on another question. But it didnt work.

It's not a big deal, but would prefer to boot to boot options first. Any ideas?

Also, I often use Logo programming language.

Of course, I can change it, manually, with the UCBLogo panel menu (Fonts).

I'm trying to get an Epson X19 scanner working. First, I downloaded their driver package for 20.04 LTS. This broke because apt-get update returned errors because of a google earth repository gone missing and an eoan archive. I eliminated these from the source list. The install seemed to work.

I tried this:

MELD > How to compare a .img with a .iso disk image file

I archived a lot of files and folders into a .img file... it is a disk image I made using dd and rsync. I then made an .iso file from the .img file (using ImgBurn in Windows 10).

Now I want to compare the contents of each to be sure the iso file contains all the same files that are in the .img file. For this I am using Meld in Ubuntu mate. When I double click on the .img file it mounts in the /me ...

First, I apologize for being a newbie even after using Ubuntu and Linux in general for several years.

This afternoon, 08/11/2021 the network connection failed on one of my laptops [an Asus with Ubuntu 20). I believe it said the network adapter was not found. It's and old computer so I figured it was a hardware problem.

I then went and grabbed another laptop [Lenovo with Ubuntu 18] and it displayed  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
