Run multiple version of NodeJs
dk flag

I am in a situation where I am managing a server with 2 different projects that run different version of NodeJs and possibly React. The projects are developed by 2 different programmers, so I just wanted to know if there is a way to avoid using containers, and allow each project to run a different version of NodeJs and ReactJs.

Is there a solution?

How can SFTP/Jetbrains be configured to allow remote access to two directories
cn flag

SFTP is the product's (jetbrains) method for remote file modification. The targeted users have a home directory and they need access to /var/www/html. Unfortunately SFTP requires a single chrooted directory per logical user. Is there a way to create a new logical sftp account to permit upload/download to /var/www/html that also allows httpd/ Apache to operate normally on these same directories?

Can't create Wi-Fi hotspot while connected with wire on Ubuntu 20.04

There are some answers for the previous Ubuntu versions, but I couldn't apply them since the network settings interface has changed.
I can create a wi-fi hotspot while I am not connected with a wire. But when I plug in the ethernet cable, the wi-fi dropdown in the panel shows "Wi-Fi Hardware Disabled" text.
When I go to Wi-Fi settings, the toggle does not work. I click on three dots on top right and click ...

If so, second question is how did you connect to Epson printer not on list?

ID process making HTTP request
br flag

My firewall is detecting my ubuntu server calling a URL on port 80 sporadically. I'd like to ID the process making the callout, but the connection is always gone by the time I can run a netstat.

A lot of the usual network tools (iptables, tcpdump) seem to only catch the traffic, not the process.

I would like a way to catch this process calling out so I can ID it and put a stop to it or understand wh ...

Screen tearing and multiple monitors problems in Lubuntu

So I've been having screentearing issues on my system for a while.

Finally figured out that running

compton --backend glx --vsync opengl

in the terminal allows me to get rid of the screen tearing.

So I dedcied it would be a good idea to add this command to startup so it simply runs everytime I boot up. However, although I now boot up screen tearing free, my second monitor (which is in fact my laptop's  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
