Startup issue in dual boot: GRUB has disappeared
us flag

I have Windows 10 and Ubuntu 21.04 dual booted on my laptop (Lenovo T14 Gen 2 Intel). I'm mostly on Ubuntu but today had to use Office so I switched to Windows. I installed the updates and restarted the system, but it now goes directly to Windows. Apparently boot priority changed so that "Windows Bootloader" is at the top. In which order should I rearrange the priority? Attached goes the pic of the pres ...

My new HP laptop will not work with the latest release, 21.04, but it works with previous versions
no flag

The USB Live Ubuntu 21.04 will load to the installation screen, but the monitor is stuck at 1024x768 (the default) with no other options, and the keyboard is completely unusable as well as the touchpad. Nothing works that I can access. Previous editions of Ubuntu (19.10 and early 20.10) will work just fine, so there seems to be a problem with this build (as well as other flavors based on this build) not ...

When I boot up Ubuntu, nothing is loading. No file icons or my profile picture
sa flag

I recently installed Ubuntu. When I boot up Ubuntu I see the log in screen. My picture is grayed out and the background is blue. Text still appears though. When I enter my password and press enter, I am brought to my desktop but no file icons appear. The text is still there. Command line does not work. I am on a very slow computer. Do I just need to wait for the files to load?

Ubuntu 20.04 issue wirh hibernation
ao flag

I am having an issue with hibernate mode. It occurs when I have a lot of items opened in my laptop (Ubuntu 20.04 with KDE) and I choose 'hibernate'.

After coming back into wake mode, the OS reboots, and I have clean desktop like I would have if I had clicked 'restart' option.

What can I do to have all running applications saved when using hibernation?

My wifi keeps logging out after X minutes, depends, if I start downloading it's instant.

I have to turn OFF Airplan mode and ON, it works instantly, then wait ~3 minutes again it turns off. Tried all the things like disable IPV6 .... like 10 first pages of google to fix this, it didn't work. I think the problem is with the driver. Since It says "I don't use proprietary drivers"

Hot to use a range of IPs on my server?

I need to have access to all IPs of an /26 block assigned to my Ubuntu 20.4 server.

Already tried setting the block with netplan, but I only have access to the first IP in it.

I've tried with ip too, but I need to setup each address manually with the command ip addr add <ip> dev <interface> and this is not reliable, imagine setting up an bigger IP block.

How do I copy my Windows 7 derived files off my USB to Ubuntu?

This seems to be a newbie question but I can't seem to find any specific answers. I am (finally) getting rid of my Windows 7 machine but need to copy all the data files off it to my Ubuntu. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
