Typing master password of pass wrong
au flag

I have successfully setup pass with a gpg key. When I ask for a stored password I see a counter for three attempts. My first question is what happens after three attempts? Does it only add a timeout, or do I lose access to my stored passwords?

My second quesion is: can I increase the threshold to another/higher number?

Save and restore backlight on hot shutdown

I have a system on which we regularly perform a "hot" shutdown - plug out the power without issuing a shutdown command. The problem is that the backlight doesn't get saved and restored correctly. Looking at the systemd backlight service documentation (and the code) https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/[email protected], it looks like the backlight status will only be sto ...

Issues in scaling monitor displays in Join Mode

I am a newbie to Linux and just installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop. I have a laptop and an additional monitor for an extended display. For my comfortable vision, I switched the vision scale from 100% to 125% for my laptop (which is built-in-display) in settings. But, it replicates on my extended monitor, for which it is not working well (seems too big). So, my requirement is, I need scaling of 125% on  ...

Prevent Alt from triggering global menu

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. Two times out of three when I'm trying to switch a language using Alt+Shift the window's global menu opens instead.

I don't ever use the Alt key to access the window's global menu, and I need to have the language switched consistently, and without Ubuntu losing the focus of the field I'm typing in. As such, completely disabling the functionality of opening the window global ...

I have a few questions around the latest release of 20.04 and the server builds without a GUI interface. I have like all my other Servers attempted to build a 20.04 Server without a GUI as I prefer to work with the CLI rather than the GUI however this is proving to be very difficult to manage both the Network Connections as well as the VPN tunnels should we need to or want to manage them. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
