Ubuntu 21.04 stayed at Linux Kernel 5.08
in flag

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 21.04 from 20.04 LTS. I did it through the update manager, and everything is working fine, a lot of things and packages were updated, but the Linux kernel stayed at 5.08 instead of 5.11. If I type in the terminal "sudo apt update" it doesn't find any new changes.

Here is a picture of the system

QEMU guest Ubuntu cannot use external webcam
ph flag

I recently set up guest Ubuntu 18.04 with QEMU on my host Mac OS 11.4 (2019 13 inches). To save the trouble of installing a driver for FaceTime camera, I bought an external webcam this one specifically.

I configured the webcam host-to-guest passing with this code (also tried using bus id and device id): img

I can see my camera device connected when I run lsusb on the Ubuntu though it is unnamed.

How to stop users from accessing the backend source code running on server
gp flag

I wanted to distribute the server side code (Node.js) to some of my users for hosting purpose, but at the same time I don't want any type of manipulation inside the code. So I have decided to use linux (ubuntu) server and rollout a simple distro by limiting the users not to read or write on the code. but later I am came to know that anyone having physical access to system can reset the root account.

I was browsing the web using Chrome when suddenly twitter gave up on me. Next I see no websites would return any response. But didn't look like a server/DNS issue. I tried to turn off my wifi so that I can reconnect but clicking 'Turn Off' in the top right system menu didn't help. Nothing happened. The wifi icon had changed to a question mark. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
