Ubuntu using llvmpipe (LLVM 11.0.0, 256 bits) as graphics
us flag

I just installed ubuntu on my computer and I'm having a lot of trouble getting the graphics to work. Only one display is detected, and it is shown as unknown and I'm not able to change resolution.

When I go to the about page in settings, the graphics are shown as llvmpipe (LLVM 11.0.0, 256 bits), which I'm pretty sure is wrong as I have an rx 6800. I've been using windows my entire life, but fina ...

I can't upgrade Ubuntu from 20.10 to 21.04: after launching update-manager -c I constantly see strange error:

Your python3 install is corrupted. Please fix the '/usr/bin/python3' symlink.

Anyone have any idea why this happens? I remove all alternatives for python and python3 already. /usr/bin/python3 links to /etc/alternatives/python3, and last one links to /usr/bin/python3.8. Analogously /usr/bin/ ...

Hotkey to toggle on/off window borders in Compiz
cn flag

I want to create a hotkey combination to toggle on/off the window border of an individual window using Compiz in Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS.

Using CCSM I've mapped Super+N to toggle window negative, Super+F to make a window fullscreen or Super+A to make a window always on the top.

I'd like to known if there's a way to toggle on/off the decorations of a window by hitting a hotkey like Super+B.

Printers overview shows "Ready" for all printers, though they are on a different network
br flag

The top printer in the list is at a club I used to go to. That printer has been taken down at least a month ago. The second printer on the list is at work.

enter image description here

Currently I am connected to the wifi hotspot on my cell phone, and still both printers are shown as "Ready".

First of all, I would like to know what that means? Is this the expected behavior? I would expect something like "Not available".

Laptop sometimes won't come out of sleep mode since updating to 21.04

This is on an ROG Zephyrus M15. I updated Ubuntu to 21.04 a couple days ago, and since then there's been three times when I try to get it out of sleep mode it won't do it. I have to hold the power button until it turns off then start the computer again. I'm pretty sure it's related to the update since it didn't happen before it, but it's happened three times in just a couple days. If anyone has any advi ...

I'm running 18.04.5 with Xfce4 installed on a Chromebook via Crouton.

I've noticed that some of the normal Chromebook shortcuts for things like Delete have not transferred over onto the Crouton install, so I'd like to rebind the Delete command in Ubuntu. I am not, however, sure what the exact command is for Delete.

LXD Bridge Prevents Network Access

Explanation before the question

I am trying to configure LXD on a raspberry pi using Ubuntu Core 20.04. It's local IP is initialized as 192.168.2.64. Before I run lxd init it was connecting to network without problem. Towards the configuration process, I created a network bridge with address 192.168.2.33/27, which should allow the range 192.168.2.33-62 to containers. However, after saving the configu ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
