What do I do with Vim Bootstrap output file?
it flag

Using: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS; Neovim (cannot remember initial install method, although it is activated via nvim command)

I was recently pointed toward this web app for creating Vim and Neovim config files. According to any resources I can find, it is supposed to generate a .vimrc file based on the options that you choose. I ran the app, but the output was a file called generate.vim.

Firefox playing Blurred Youtube videos on Ubuntu 20.10 (ARM64)-Raspberry PI 4(8Gb)
mx flag

I've been using Ubuntu in my Raspberrys since 19.xx and now I'm running 20.10 (arm64).

Since some days ago, I noticed that Firefox 88.x was playing blurred videos on youtube.

Example

It looks like a failling Chroma Key or something like.

Some hours later came the Firefox update to 89.0 and the problem remains the same.

This problem does not happen on Chromium or Vivaldi, and VLC plays ok too.

Ubuntu 21.04 Guest on VMware Workstation 16 Gnome Forgets UI Scale On Resolution Change
de flag

I am running Ubuntu 21.04 VMs in VMware Workstation Pro 16.1.2 build-17966106. When toggling between full screen and normal mode (which causes VMware to poke the guest tools to change the virtual monitor resolution to adjust), the VMs forget their UI scale, resetting back to 100%. The Windows 10 VMs do not exhibit this behavior, which suggests that the problem is not the hypervisor or the hardware.

Can't boot install 18.04

It gets stuck every time I try instslling it, exactly the same as described here:

To complicate matters further, it's not online, so what's on the bootable flash drive is all I've got. This is because in the setup it's not giving me the option to connect to wifi and it's not accessible with an ethernet.

Ubuntu 20.04 won't enter standby

My Alienware m15 r5 will not enter standby. When I try, it's like it half enters, my keyboard and fans stay on, and I have a _ on the top left of the screen, but then it sits there. It will resume just fine. I suspect it's a hardware or firmware issue, as windows will not enter standby either. How do I find out what hardware won't sleep? How to configure lid close action as hibernate in Ubuntu 20.04?
cn flag

I want to configure my laptop (ASUS UX461UN) to go to hibernate when I close the lid. I tried 3 basic suggestions that I saw as a result of my research.

  1. Run command sudo -H gedit /etc/systemd/logind.conf and configure #HandleLidSwitch=suspend line for hibernate,
  2. Increase swap space,
  3. Disable secure boot.

None of these worked. Hibernate is an important feature for me, especially for keeping ongoing t ...

No warning for low battery

I have searched relevant questions and nothing seems to be helping.

On ubuntu 20.04, all service packs up to date.

I don't get low battery warning. The battery indicator shows around 30% when laptop suddenly shuts down even if settings says percentage-low 10% to suspend. It does not suspend, it shuts down.

I've been trying to download some data science packages within my Ubuntu OS using Docker and noticed I somehow had used close to 150GBs of space. Ubuntu software list is empty
cn flag

Firstly, I am new here so apologies if this all seems a little noobish. I have just switched from Windows and started to use Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. Unfortunately, I have ran in a bit of a problem, for some apparent reason the "Ubuntu Software" seems to be completely blank other than the editor choice or recommended software or snaps? So, any help in this regards would be highly appreciated.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
