In Ubuntu 18.04 gnome-control-center, I can't start bluetooth service despite having toggled the "Start Toggle" widget. This was not the case previously. Also, I noticed that whenever I powered-up/start the system, the bluetooth service isn't started up.

Automatically adding bitmap fonts to font path
gb flag

I've enabled bitmap fonts on Ubuntu 21.04 and they work fine. I did have this command in my bspwmrc file:

xset +fp /usr/local/share/fonts/misc

But every time I reloaded the bspwm config file this command was being run again and inserting the same path yet again. Is there a way to just have this path added once? I tried adding it to ~/.xsession (since I login with GDM) but it isn't working. I even m ...

Yesterday Ubuntu Software was working but today it isn't. Running snap-store shows the following error

I am trying to open snap-store and it is not opening. This seems to be a problem for opening .deb packages as well.

I get this response when I try to open it on a terminal with sudo snap-store:

Changing input language does not work while entering keyring password
ru flag

On startup, a keyring message pops up. Pressing SuperSpace does not change the language, instead of that, it adds spaces in the password text field.

If the language used in the password is different from the language that was set by the computer on startup then it is impossible to enter the password.

My laptop system is running Ubuntu 20.04 with Xfce 4.14. When I suspend the laptop by closing the lid and then resuming by opening the lid, the laptop screen does not turn on. If I have an external monitor plugged into the hdmi port then that monitor will turn on, at which point I can enter my password to unlock the screen and then run xfce4-display-settings (by pressing fn+f7) to re-enable my laptop mo ...

I recently updated to 21.04, suspend and wake up worked fine before.

After the update I noticed that after waking up from suspend and pressing enter to open the password prompt, the screen freezes. I am able to get into into a terminal and restart gdm but this kinda defeats the point of suspending.

bash tab auto-complete is too slow but it isn't with teraterm or putty
us flag

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 and it got stuck in 1~2 seconds when I push the tab button for auto-completion.

I've been trying to resolve this problem but I couldn't make it. I even changed my computer to the new one but it has same problem.

One weird thing is that when I connect my ubuntu with ssh in other pc(using teraterm or putty or other pc's ubuntu), the problem is gone and works well.

I don't know why. ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
