Trackpad (and possibly keyboard) fail to work on first page of installation
cn flag

I'm installing Ubuntu on my Surface Laptop 4, and on the first page of installation (language setup), the trackpad and keyboard don't work. I can't move my cursor or move up and down the list of languages manually via my keyboard (I'm not sure if I could do that in the first place, but I'm pretty sure can). My keyboard also presents weird bugs such as the caps lock's key-light thingy not changing after  ...

The procedure I describe is useless but it helps me explain the situation.

If I am using terminal, I use it on top of nautilus.

In terminal, I type "cat" then space, then with the mouse I go to nautilus and want to drag and drop a txt file over the terminal, so its path gets printed in terminal. Pressing 'Enter' then I can see the file content.

The problem is that the terminal window get minimized and  ...

I have a computer used for backups that does a wake-on-lan to run backups and then turns off. This morning something happened that caused the MAC address to change. While I know the MAC address can be changed, I didn't think this could happen without asking.

This computer has been running Ubuntu and getting updated since 16.04. It is currently on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS. At some point eth0 became en ...

Problem with sleep mode in dual boot (windows 10/ubuntu). Ubuntu shuts down after opening the lid (not going into sleep mode properly)

I have a dual boot system (windows/ubuntu). In Windows system after closing the lid, the system goes into sleep mode, in windows it works fine. For Ubuntu case though, after closing the lid and opening it later on, the system's working for like 10 seconds and then it shuts down by itself. It seems that in Ubuntu case the system does not go into sleep mode at all when closing the lid.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
