Can I dual boot Ubuntu and Windows to run both operating systems simultaneously?
in flag

I'm a new forum user and new to Linux.

I have 2 1TB HDDs in an older Dell Optiplex 790. Windows 10 Pro currently boots from hdd0.

I also have multiple displays: one from the VGA port (display 1) and the other from the DisplayPort (display 2).

What I'd like to do is install Ubuntu on hdd1, BUT have both Windows and Ubuntu boot at the same time, with Windows on hdd0 on display 1 and Ubuntu on hdd1 on disp ...

How can I tell if an application is using XWayland?

I'm troubleshooting some issues to do with multiple monitors and HiDPI on Wayland. I've learnt from online resources that applications on XWayland may not handle this use-case as expected. So now I want to know which applications are using XWayland, and which aren't.

How can I centralise the management of ~40 PCs that will be running Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 LTS?
Those PC will be used by ~100 users (students, teachers and staff) in 3 different locations, so I expect to setup some sort of central authentication.

Currently we have one Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server providing dns, dhcp and samba file sharing to ~10 Ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktops that are essentially single-user machi ...

Ubuntu freezes after booting from USB drive on 2020 Macbook Air
cn flag

I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my MacBook Air and I get stuck on the screen that gets displayed immediately after you boot off the USB drive where you are prompted to either try out or install ubuntu (e.g. step 4 in the installation instructions).

It is either frozen, or my mouse and keyboard are for whatever reason not active. I noticed my keyboard doesn't light up on this screen.

Evolution broken until system restart

When I restart my system, email with evolution works fine. At some point (usually when suspending and moving from office to home), all or some email accounts will stop working. I can sometimes receive but not send messages, sometimes neither receive nor send messages. The operations time out, or I get a '... does not support asking for credentials' message after a minute of trying to send the email. Whe ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
