Assign keyboard shortcut to Hyper in GNOME
ng flag

I'm trying to assign keyboard shortcuts to key combinations with the Hyper key in GNOME. In the tweak tool, I've assigned Hyper to CapsLock. I have also fixed the issue where Super and Hyper result in the same thing, using this answer. If I look in xev, if I press CapsLock it now says Hyper_L as expected, and pressing Super results in Super_L.

The problem is, if I go to the keyboard shortcut settings an ...

Analyse DMARC reports

I receive Google's DMARC reports daily as a zip file containing an XML file. I manually download each zip file ~/Documents/DMARC.

I want to aggregate the information from all the saved DMARC reports and produce a human-readable readable report (e.g. table in LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet). I am on Ubuntu 20.04 standard desktop, so I would rather not have memory-hungry or CPU-hungry services runnin ...

How do I fix lag after restoring from tar file backup?
pl flag

My Ubuntu laptop was having weird graphics problems, so I attempted to back up my files and reinstall to the partition without reformatting. I backed up my files into a second partition on my SSD by booting into a liveusb and using "sudo tar -cvf [filename] [the path to my install's root directory]" and then attempted the reinstall. When it didn't work, I moved all the files of the broken install to an  ...

I am trying to compile different versions (5.10.2/5.12.5/5.13.4) of the ixgbe driver on Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS.

It keeps throwing the same error message with any version. Do you have any suggestion where the issue could be?

Thnx

This has never happened to me before. I changed my password, set for No Password on login, and, noticing that I wasn't an administrator, I made myself one, though I'm the only user and the only one with access to the box. I then closed the lid to my laptop thinking that would effect the change, but then neither the new nor the old password was accepted. I even wrote down the new one (and I never write d ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
