Error while installing Remarkable Editor
vn flag

I downloaded the .deb file of Remarkable Markdown editor in Ubuntu 20.04. As soon as I started to run the .deb file, it is showing the following error:

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: gir1.2-webkit-3.0

As far as I know, WebKit is a browser engine for Apple Products. I do not know why it is required on Linux. Any help in resolving this will be very much appreciated.

Touchpad starts requiring 2 fingers - way to fix?
in flag

Is there a way to restore single finger function on touchpad without having to reboot?

After using touchpad for a while it often starts requiring 2 fingers on the touchpad to move the cursor and actions that would require 2 fingers then start requiring 3. Single finger is ignored entirely.

My touchpad driver appears to be: ELAN0674:00 04F3:3193 Touchpad

Deja dup with LUKS
cn flag

I have my home partition backed up on an external hard drive via Deja Dup. This is my only partition except my boot partition. I’d like to enable LUKS on it, so would it work to just do it (which would effectively format it) and then to restore in Deja Dup? Or does it not work with encrypted partitions?

Debug PolicyKit Rules?

I'm running into what seems to be a simple problem that is driving me crazy.

I've done a clean install of Kubuntu 20.04. Everything is working fine locally on the machine, but my primary use case is running via remote desktop with xrdp. I've done this many times before, and on many machines.

In this case, I am getting the very common popup for org.freedesktop.packagekit.system-sources-refresh, but ...

Note that the Uninstall button is still there.

ubuntu crash semingly random during video

I've installed Ubuntu 20.04 onto a hardrive on my computer, and I love it. It's gotten to the point I prefer it over windows, (which I use for gaming) but theres this one issue that really doesn't make me look at Ubuntu in a good light.

Every so often, if I'm watching a video, (or more recently just looking at an mpv video), Ubuntu freezes, and plays whatever part of the video I'm on repeatedly a ...

Kubuntu 20.04 runs the same game hotter on average than Ubuntu 20.04 Steam, Nvidia
jp flag

I do realize that it seems like margin of error, but this has been consistent across every install that I've done. On Steam, with the latest NVIDIA 470.86 drivers and with Kwin enabled or disabled while gaming on Kubuntu, it will consistently run the games 2-3 Celsius hotter than Ubuntu 20.04. An example game I've tested this on is Sekiro on Steam, in multiple circumstances and replicating in-game condi ...

Configuring an external DHCP server for MAAS to provision bare metal server

We are using MAAS 3.1 and are working a lab where there is already a DHCP server provisioned to allocate IP. As a part of MAAS provisioning a Bare Metal Server we want it to use the external DHCP server instead of the default one within in MAAS. The dhcp configure doc link from MAAS does not provide much info about how to configure an external DHCP server. Any info related to this procedure will be ...

Different scaling with dual monitor setup: slow in x11, blurry in wayland

I am using Ubuntu 20.04. I just got a new 4k monitor which I am now using together with the previous 1080 one.

The 4k display is unreadable at 100% scaling, so at first, I turned on fractional scaling to 150% on the 4k display (leaving the 1080 at 100%). This worked great, except that everything was noticeably slower. Googling suggested that this is a common issue with Xorg and there is nothing t ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
