Firefox on Ubuntu 21.10 has high CPU usage and will not load sites but other browsers do
jp flag

Firefox was working like a charm until today when it decided to stop working. It was not loading any sites but other browsers could. When running it had high CPU usage but the UI worked normally. I have tried clearing history, cache and data of Firefox but nothing worked. The proposed fixes with fonts didn't work as well as removing the whole common directory from ~/snap/firefox/common.

I migrated from windows 10 and did a Fresh install of Ubuntu Studio on my acer laptop with amd processor

Migrating from Windows10 to Ubuntu Studio has been very challenging from the start. I do not trust Microsoft nor Google, so I decided to migrate my online computing life to other platforms so I can have more control (within reason of course).

I have tried installing Ubuntu studio three times. The first thing I want to note is that I am unable to shutdown or restart the machine without it showing  ...

impish kerberized nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified
us flag

I have a working kerberized NFS server. It works fine with MacOS, Debian (Sid), and Raspbian. It doesn't work with Impish Indri, and I can't figure out why.

  • GSSAPI Logins with SSH work fine with Impish
  • I have the nfs/ key, and it's not using the deprecated ciphers:
sudo klist -e -k /etc/krb5.keytab
Keytab name: FILE:/etc/krb5.keytab

Lubuntu giving black screen after install on laptop with NVIDIA GPU, unable to modify grub

Trying to install Lubuntu on a brand new MSI gaming laptop because it's much more lightweight and snappy than Windows. However, I noticed that if I start the Lubuntu LiveCD without adding nomodeset, it results in a black screen. So I had to install by selecting the Safe Graphics option.

Now that Lubuntu is installed, I tried to go into /etc/default/grub and add nomodeset, but when running sudo update- ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
