How do I get an array of currently attached (but not formatted/mounted) hard drives sorted by size (but without the sizing data in the array)
es flag

I wanted a way to script the mounting of hard drives to a specific mount point. After some browsing, I found: https://gist.github.com/trentmswanson/9c22bb71182e982bd36f

This was for MS Azure and did not cover specific hard drives types in the AWS Infrastructure. It used sdf in needed nvm. I made those changes and the result worked. I have an array that holds the mount points:

How to configure device pixels to fix content size in Firefox?
de flag

When I open the same websites in Firefox, Chrome, and Vivaldi, the content appears much smaller in Firefox than in both Chromium based browsers, despite site zoom is set to 100% in all of them.

Using content with annotated pixel sizes, taking screenshots, and measuring them in GIMP makes me conclude, that the display size is correct in Chrome but too small in Firefox.

I have 2 Ubuntu machines. Host1 is 20.04 LTS, Host2 is 18.04.3 LTS.

Both have no search option configured, however Host2 can actually ping Host1 (without FQDN) even if it's unable to resolve it.

This is for Host1

user1@host1:~$ hostname -f

user1@host1:~$ dnsdomainname

Speeding up apt update by changing the nameservers on Ubuntu21.10 (impish)?
au flag

I just installed Ubuntu Impish on my work laptop. I was wondering why my apt update was being so slow. After digging a bit I found that someone proposed to change the name server to have it pointed towards 8.8.8.8. After changing the /etc/resolv.conf file accordingly, magically the update was running lighting fast (as expected). My previous configuration had:

Modify Resolution in PPD to Match Max Resolution of Printer
cn flag

I just purchased a Brother PJ-722 thermal printer for travel, and am struggling getting the best resolution out of it.

I have tried installing the manufacturer's driver, but it gives errors when installing (missing directory, missing cupswrapper). Their universal driver downloader/installer also failed to even find my printer. :-(

However, I found driver that works with this printer: the Brother MC-3000. ...

Is there a current version of Ubuntu that works on a laptop with an nvidia driver

Is there a current version of Ubuntu or a linux kernel beyond 5.8 that works with an nvidia graphics driver. I currently have an installation of Ubuntu 20.4 LTS, but I have to manually load Linux kernel 5.8 because none of the newer kernels will load the Nvidia graphics driver on boot. All I get is a black screen with a randomly blinking cursor. I also tried a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.4.3 on a new har ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
