Ubuntu 21.10: Cannot assign for maximize window
uz flag

I have a custom shortcut for maximize window: <Super><Ctrl><Up>). Since Ubuntu 21.10 this doesn't work anymore. Instead it is showing me the overview. Assigning a different shortcut seems to work.

This did work in Ubuntu 20.04 - I also have used Wayland before.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

blkid outputThis Seagate HD was okay. But I didn't use it for a few months and reconnected it after arriving in a new country. I have tried to connect it to two different machines running Ubuntu 18.04. Both take longer to boot, which means something is happening. Also both machines show an unusual startup screen (one with much larger fonts, the other one with smaller!). The drive is not mounted and ru ...

I've got an A10Networks Thunder TPS 4435 Network Appliance with 16 SFP+ Ports that are connected to one Broadcom network chip. In the original software, the interfaces are detected. But I've removed it from the disk so I can't check which driver it uses for the NIC.

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04

How to install only one of the suggested/recommended packages?
gb flag

For example, Package master depends on dep1 and suggests sugg1, sugg2. when I install master, dep1 gets installed automatically but sugg1, sugg2 is not.

I want to install sugg1 but not sugg2. Also I want sugg1 to be treated as dependency. i.e. 1. If master is uninstalled, sugg1 should also be removed. 2. If a newer version of master no longer suggests sugg1, it should be removed automatically.

I have been running an Ubuntu VM on Virtualbox with no issues.

today when I tried to log on the VM seems to start fine and the Ubuntu icon flashes at the bottom of the screen then it just go to a blank/black screen with a cursor underscore.

does absolutely nothing after that. I've tried every combo of changing the display settings in Virtualbox and disables 3d acceleration. nothing seems to work.

What I am using:

  • Raspberry Pi 4

What I need:

  • Ethernet with dhcp to connect to my lan.
  • A wifi ap that is isolated from the ethernet.
  • The ability to assign static ip addresses to devices on the wifi network, since some may be unable to do some themselves.
  • Have the ability for docker containers to access devices on the wifi ap, with any configuration done through docker-compose files.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
