Google drive file system automatically mounted
me flag

I installed ubuntu a few days ago, and just found out my entire google drive has been mounted as a vfs. The path is: /run/user/1000/gvfs/google-drive:host=gmail.com,user=<username>. I dont recall ever consenting to this (even though its a nice feature). Does this file system come automatically installed with every ubuntu installation?

Plugin descriptor file is empty
us flag

I have corrupted my Android Studio install (Arctic Fox 2020.3.1.25). Is there a way to regenerate the plugin descriptor file?

After updating the Kotlin plugin, I dismissed the "Restart" dialog b/c it was blocking the UI and I wanted to check on some other suggestion entries in the log output.

I then closed the project and exited the IDE completely. After restarting, there was no syntax highlighting  ...

HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop Ubuntu bootable USB not working
th flag

I've been trying to replace Windows 10 with Ubuntu 21.10. But I've encountered so many problems. Basically, I followed a bunch of online tutorials and found out that I needed to create a bootable USB disk, which I did in every possible way with Rufus on my Windows 10 device. Then disabled Secure Boot, which is the only option related to bootable medium issues listed in forums that I can disable/ena ...

Menu dropdown not appearing in Kdenlive, making it near impossible to edit
co flag

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 but still using the Unity desktop which I suspect may be tied to the issue. I've tried all the fixes I've found in older comments here about this sort of issue in Unity and none work.

Basically, Kdenlive's dropdown menus (File, Help, etc) aren't appearing at all, and Ctrl + M doesn't do anything to bring it up. It looks like this with a blank menu bar. Curiously, the normal fixes I've ...

Purely parse the column from the bash command output
ng flag

We need to extract the column from the command output. I have tried the methods using awk, and cut commands. Whereas we have the spaces in the 2nd column values due to which delimiter for space or other character does not parse the 2nd column output in a correct way. Do we have another method to get purely the second column of the output as mentioned above?

GParted "ERROR: Volume is full. To shrink it, delete unused files." when I'm trying to enlarge (NTFS)
cn flag

GParted is giving me a wrong error message, which makes troubleshooting rather hard.

I've got an NTFS partition, 100% full with one file (the .vdi for a Win10 VM using VirtualBox). I'm trying to resize it, and have freed up some space before the partition - it's at the end of the disk. But if I try to enlarge it, or simply to move it left into the unused space, I get the error in the title.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
