in flag

My Ubuntu system is suddenly having very slow internet - which is not an ISP issue since my other devices are having the expected internet speed.

Running fast command, I get like 1.67 Mbps (compared to that I had over 300 Mbps before)

I'm using a USB WiFi device:

iwconfig shows:

Trackpad toggle function key not working on MSI laptop
cn flag

I have an MSI GE76 running the Ubuntu 21.10 beta. I am dual booting with Windows 10. I was surprised that most of my useful function hotkeys work, including the max-fan button and the webcam disable button.

However, fn-F3, which is supposed to disable the trackpad, does not do anything. It also doesn't work in Ubuntu 20.04 or Ubuntu 21.04. Is there a known solution to this problem?

I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 on my Lenovo Ideapad 5 in Dual boot. It has to be version 18.04 because I need to use ROS on the system. The problem is that I can't connect a new screen or change brightness with the install. I've tried a few solutions where I change kernel version but it breaks the system and gives error message in boot screen

GIMP: How do I make all pixels transparent except for ones with a certain color?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I did see another GIMP question on this forum, so here we go:

I have an image of a hand-written note written in blue ink on lined paper. The lines are black. What I'd like to do is to make everything except for the writing transparent. So the end result should be a transparent png with just the blue writing on it. Is this doable in GIMP? I mean be ...

OK. I know there are may be incompatible sound cards. But in my case I've manged to have sound via HDMI twice! And then, after reboot its lost again. I believe it's because of some race condition in configs, hardware detection etc. Please help if you know something about how ALSA works deep inside.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
