How might an Ubuntu machine that has full-drive encryption be altered remotely to enable remote reboot?
cn flag

I've got a remote machine that was set up with full-drive encryption. I need to remotely reboot the thing. Is there some way to remotely alter the machine such that the passcode for decryption gets entered before boot, or some way to remotely remove the encryption? I know all of these things go against the security model, but the thing needs rebooting and I don't have in-person access to it.

I cannot get my SCR3310 smart card reader to work in Ubuntu 20.04.2, despite installing cackey, pcsc_scan and the DOD certificates. When I run pcsc_scan, it says there is a reader and a card, but the scan never quits scanning and never says "DoD CAC card issued Jan XX, 20XX". And, I never get the green light on the reader when I do the scan. What am I missing? I've followed the guides I've found on the  ...

Is there a portable version of ungoogled-chromium for ubuntu?
tf flag

I'd really like to use the "ungoogled-chromium"-browser alongside firefox- but as a portable version. This mean: All the necessary files are stored in one folder and/or subfolders, so that I can move the folder whereever I want and run it from this location without losing the browser cache, settings and so on .. For example to switch between ubuntu computers.

If you take a look on the download site ...

I have a 500GB SSD and a 1TB HDD and I'm trying to Dual-Boot Windows and Ubuntu.

My plan is to install Windows and Ubuntu only on the SSD, and then give half of the HDD to each OS for storing larger file.

Is this possible and if so, what are the step-by-step instructions of doing this?

in 21.04 i cant seem to adjust the font on the title bar

In 21.04 I can not seem to adjust the font size of the title bar.

This effects other software such as google chrome, which is drawing it's font size choice for the URL bar, from the system title-bar font, so it is also not adjustable currently.

I am not sure if there is any way to adjust this, gnome tweaks or unity tweaks would be my go to, gnome tweaks didn't work as you can see from the image, an ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
