(Initialization Error In Ubuntu 20.04) Error: Failure Reading Sector 0x100800 From HD1
ru flag

Now about 20 minutes ago this error screen appeared when I turned on the PC in an unexpected way.

I forcibly had to turn it off due to the OS that had previously crashed after executing a code. So now I'm in doubt if it was this memory address 0x100800 internal hard drive that got corrupted and there is nothing more that can be done, or if there is any command where it is possible to restore data ...

Changes to fstab completely breaks ubuntu
ng flag

I have a 1TB HDD. Completely formatted it to free space in the Disks program and made a 500GB EXT4 partition to have the other 500GB for Windows, just in case. Looked up guides and threads on how to make it mount itself automatically on boot so I added PARTUUID=ba69b10a-b371-4ca0-a2af-8cfd309e34a3 /hdd ext4 defaults 0 2 to the end of /etc/fstab.

This method WORKED for a few restarts until one reboot  ...

Step-by-step?: How to migrate parts of the Home folder to another PC?

I'm requesting step-by-step help, as I'm an Ubuntu user, not a computer systems/software person. I can follow explicit detailed instructions for Terminal commands. (For example, I do not know how to move between different directories in Terminal.)

I have searched and have not found explicit step-by-step instructions for a proper way to move over contents of the Home folder in an old PC (running L ...

Ansible `synchronize` module does not work

I really have no leads on additional information for this one. I have tried to get this to work on multiple occasions but never does. From the logs, i have no leads to why its not working.

Anyone use this module and know what may be going on?

After running the below, it just sits and hangs... does nothing else. No failures, just hangs.

How to change cursor selection box color Xubuntu 20.04 (Not Ubuntu 20.04)
in flag

enter image description here

As you can see from the image here my cursor selection box is blue and like many other Linux users I wish to change mine to match my theme. I am running Xubuntu 20.04, NOT Ubuntu 20.04 (don't mind the Ubuntu wallpaper) and I think it has Xfce instead of Gnome. Been away from Linux for a few years and am getting reacquainted not only to Linux but to a slightly different distro. Any help appreciated.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
