Running Ubuntu 18.04. I have had trouble with uwf so I decided to reinstall and reset.

I have booted the VPS into rescue mode. Did the following mounting:

fdisk -l
mkdir /mnt/mydrive
mount dev/sdb1 /mnt/mydrive
cd /
mount -o remount,rw /

I then reinstalled uwf. After that I reset it to default Deny incoming and Allow outgoing.

Then, I went through and allowed the usual things like HTTP, HTTPS, S ...

Mounting NTFS disc through graphical Gnome Disc Manager seems "incomplete"
gb flag

I have a 800GB NTFS partition (/dev/sda1) with a lot of data and gigabytes of games, including my Steam folder. If I manually open /dev/sda1, and then open Steam, all my games appear installed as expected.

However, If I set /dev/sda1 to mount on PC start through the GUI, Steam doesn't see the disc as mounted, even though it is.

What is it that manually opening the disc does, that mounting doesn't? W ...

Bluetooth audio stutters when downloading

I've been happily using Ubuntu for several years now but am finally inclined to ask about an annoying thing that has happened on both 18.04 and 20.04.

While playing audio through a Bluetooth speaker, if something starts downloading at more than a MB/s or so, the audio will stutter until the download completes. (The sound will pause for irregular periods; once the download completes, it jumps to w ...

Flatpak apps do not detect headphone microphone
in flag

Flatpak apps such as Skype or Zoom do not detect my headphone microphone. If I start them with my headphones plugged in no microphone is detected, whereas if the headphones are unplugged the built-in microphone is detected. The headphone microphone does work elsewhere.

I tried running them with the --device=all argument but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

How can I troubleshoot this?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
