How to fix system freezing when using a Dedicated GPU (INTEL + AMD)?
us flag

So, I decided to make a dual boot (Windows + Ubuntu). When I used my Intel HD Graphics 520 card everything was fine. But when I want to play some games using Proton or Lutris with my dedicated GPU: AMD Radeon R5 M330 - oh man, everything worked really bad. Well, in most cases it didn't work at all.

I used 'DRI_PRIME = 1', 'Launch using Dedicated Graphics Card' option etc.

Docker restarted by dist-upgrade despite being pinned and staying the same version?

Having read this answer on Ask Ubuntu: What is “dist-upgrade” and why does it upgrade more than “upgrade”?

I'm still not sure what happened here in my situation.

On a local server, Ubuntu 18.04, I have docker pinned to an older version.

The file is located here: /etc/apt/preferences.d/docker-ce.pref

And the contents are:

Enabling recursive subfolder search when opening files in applications on Ubuntu 20.04
sy flag

I've just installed Ubuntu 20.04 and Sublime Text on a Lenovo T530 for php development.

I was previously using Ubuntu 18.04 with Sublime to work on our codebase which has several sub-directories. My usual method of opening a file was to use the search bar, which would recursively search through all the subfolders in a convenient manner.

This does not work with 20.04, the Nautilus(?) window I am pre ...

How to disable middle button paste in Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS?
in flag

I have installed Tweaks and turned Middle Click Paste off. That doesn't help.

I have also followed all of the recommendations in these posts:

How do I disable middle mouse button click paste?

However, I can't get it disabled. It's a very annoying behaviour, in my opinion, and I can't see why it's so hard to get rid of it. Seems like a huge bug.

How do I delete the last "enter" of the copied content?

According to How do I pipe terminal standard output (stdout) to the clipboard, we could copy the current path via:

pwd | xclip -sel clip

However, in most cases, I want to further modify the copied path when I use it. For example, add some folders to the path before running the command:

cp (paste the path) (then, I want to add the target path)

I've successfully installed VMware tools for Ubuntu. Everything seems to work fine, but shared folders were not mounted automatically. How do I get them to work?

How to install Ubuntu on a encrypted LUKS partition without a separate UNencryted /boot?
cn flag

Ubuntus horrible installer is a pain point for years for me. And the one that ships with Kubuntu 21.10 got even worse.

There is no reason for the outdated installation structure with a separate unencrypted /boot at all. Grub is able to decrypt LUKS1 disks for many years, yet Ubuntus installer is still stuck in the past. There is also no reason for this utterly stupid annoying LVM setup and a swap ...

Ubuntu 20.04 option not visible in GRUB menu

I have a triple-booted system with Windows, Ubuntu 18.04, and Ubuntu 20.04. Windows OS is installed on my SSD and both the Ubuntu OSs are installed in the HDD in separate partitions. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
