Who develops and maintains Ubuntu's "Network Manager"?
gn flag

Wi-Fi WPA3 (and Wi-Fi 6E which requires WPA3) use a new authentication and key management mechanism called Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE). This mechanism is further enhanced through the use of SAE Hash-to-Element (H2E)

SAE H2E is mandatory for WPA3 and Wi-Fi 6E.

SAE H2E is not supported in the versions of Network Manager (1.30.0), or WPA_Supplicant (2.9) provided with Ubuntu 21.04.

Appending string or character to terminal output
cn flag

I need to run a command in a terminal to continuously receive incoming messages from elsewhere on the network. I have no control over the formulation of the length of the message. The command, however, is able to receive and print one full message at a time (and I also have no control over this command).

My task is to forward this stream of messages to a local port. An app listening to that port  ...

"invalid argument" when trying to access to network from nautilus
cn flag

I was reading this could be a kind of bug. So, I have 2 samba file servers, mint-satellite and ubuntu-andres. I can't reach when I double click, I can't reach when I write in Go To: smb://ubuntu-andres but I can reach when I write smb://ubuntu-andres/share. The other server has the same config and it runs correctly, every machine can reach it. Heres my smb.conf from servers:

Dual Monitor option not available in display settings (20.04)

[Screenshot of Display settings][1] The second monitor is not detected in the activities -> Display section it shows no option to detect/add a monitor as some older Ubuntu posts seems to indicate.

I brought the resolution down to 1280 x 720 (59.74 Hz) and restarted as the other monitor is an older Samsung SyncMAster 920NW that probably doesn't support the maximum resolution.

Reinstalling Ubuntu the installer doesn't recognize the EFI partition
ng flag

I'm quite new to Linux and when I have done an update on the Ubuntu 21.04 Hirsute Hippo, on restarting the system hasn't worked anymore. As I am not an expert I've thought that the most straightforward way to solve this would be reinstalling Ubuntu keeping all my data. These are the partitions in my Hard Drive, using sudo parted -l (right now I'm using Ubuntu from a live USB):

Why am I logging in as "kvm" instead of my normal username?
no flag

One day I booted my computer and logged in and my desktop was empty. I was now in /home/kvm/Desktop. I never created this user. All my stuff is still under home/ben, so no data has been lost. kvm however does not have sudo privileges, and I am not sure how to log in as 'ben.'

The only thing I can think of is my cat typed something while I was away.

How do I begin to address this problem?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
