Trouble trying to make a bootable USB on Rufus

I am trying to make a bootable USB drive using Rufus. I downloaded Ubuntu on my laptop. I opened up Rufus and for Boot selection the only options I have are, "Non bootable" "FreeDOS" and "Disk or ISO image (please select)"

What am I doing wrong?

Thunderbird / Lightning no longer detecting caldav calendars (since Kubuntu 22.04)

I have been using caldav calendars in thunderbird for quite some time, but since the upgrade to Kubuntu 22.04 I can't get it to work any more, while on another machine still running 20.04 the same works without problems. Just now I upgraded the 22.04 machine to 22.10 but no difference.

When I enter user and URL and press Find Calendars nothing is found and all I can see in the logs is this:

I installed Ubuntu, and keep getting a "non-system disk".I had a couple of different flavors of Ubuntu installed, checking them out, and they all ran fine.

Then I got fancy and decided to install two flavors, and I tried to partition it in advance.

Prolly not relevant: I don't recall the exact config for the partitioning before the problem first happened, but I think it was in this vein: 1gb or mb f ...

Nvidia driver are not working

I'm running on 22.04.1. I tried to install driver via GUI, the system was clean from any previous installation, but after reboot I am still running at super low resolution like with default drivers. if I go via GUI to the driver menu, it tells me I am on the right drivers now but effectively the nvidia control panel is not showing me anything about the gpu. drivers are installed but NOT working basicall ...

I'm facing a problem booting my Ubuntu 18.04. So i made a bootable USB-stick(with Ubuntu 18.04) then i booted through 'try Ubuntu', i opened the terminal and gave the following commands:

sudo mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot/efi
sudo mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo mount --rbind /sys /mnt/sys

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils.cmd'

I update Ubuntu 20.4 to 22.4 and after that pip is no longer working in the virtual environments based on python 3.9 and this is the error I get:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils.cmd'

What I understood from my searches is that the missing module was in Python3.8 and they suggested to install the module

sudo apt install python3.8-distutils

I am trying to determine who is responsible for the frequent screen freezes that I am having after the screen has been "blanked" by the 15-min power timeout.

When the screen freezes, the mouse can be moved around, but cannot select anything.

I recovered a deleted Ubuntu partition on dual-boot but I am having problem with booting through grub. How can I go about this?

I am using a Dual boot (Windows and Ubuntu). But, I mistakenly deleted a particular partition (Ubuntu 22.4.1), I quickly recovered a partition using some recovery tools I saw online.

My XP-Pen artist 15.6 Pro is giving "NO SIGNAL" prompt in ubuntu 22.04.

Windows/Linux Dual Boot Error: "Failed to open \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi - Not Found"

I am a Windows 11 user and I have been using linux via ubuntu dual boot. The dual boot has been working wonderfully for months, until one day it stopped working for seemingly no reason. When I boot up the computer, I do not get to choose ubuntu/windows thru grub, instead I get the following error message on my boot up screen:

"VS Code closed unexpectedly" error message pops up but it still runs

I had a VS Code window opened with an .ipynb file inside and suddenly i got two error messages in a row with difference of about 20 secs which said something like "vs code unexpectedly closed" but actually my VS Code didn't close (forgot to take a screenshot of this message) Why could this happen? It looked kinda suspicious.

p.s. im a newcomer in ubuntu so i decided to ask this maybe kinda stupid ...

I assume because it's given such prominence it's important but I can't find any information anywhere on how to setup this service. There's no messages in any error logs regarding bamf.

Ubuntu VM running on Ubuntu KVM can't get to internet

I have Ubuntu installed on a virtual machine running under KVM on Ubuntu.

From that VM I can access all network hosts in the same VLAN and other VLAN. Also, devices from other VLANs can access that VM.

The only problem I have is that I can't access internet from that VM.

How do I access Internet?

How to get rid of wrong kernel (-oracle) from Software Updater update
