Network connections stop working after minor update, Ubuntu 22.10

Yesterday, I installed the latest minor updates in my computer with Ubuntu 22, and after restarting it seems that the network connections are not working any more. I use a Wi-Fi adapter from Realtek (I intall the drivers from this repository), and it's no longer available.Besides, I cannot use USB sharing connection with my phone too, the ip configuration cannot be obtained.

Xubuntu 20.04 Black Screen After Installing

I have windows 11 and have downloading virtual box 7.0 with the hopes of installing Xubunntu 20.04. I create the virtual disk, allocate the storage to 3492, CPUs =2, then install the OS. It goes through the whole install until right at the end, it claims there was an error installing it and when I click restart now, it loads, then goes to a black screen?

Wrong PhP version for Moodle

I searched a lot and couldn't really find an answer how to switch between windows of the same application in the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Dock (See screenshot).

I want to extend my disk partition for Ubuntu

I have 2 main partitions, p3 is the Windows partition and p4 is my Ubuntu partition. I'd like to allocate free space in p3 and move it to p4. However, since Ubuntu is adjacent to Windows, I'm not sure how I can move the unallocated space to Ubuntu. You can view my GParted below

Extreme novice here attempting to figure out how to rename a bunch of files in a directory. I have hundreds of media files that all follow the same syntax for the file name:

year - title of movie.avi

I would like to write a script that removes the year and the " - " from the beginning of the file name and appends it onto the end. End result:

title of movie - year.avi

Why does my 20.04 Ubuntu installation load CUDA for 18.04?

I recently managed to muck up my CUDA installation beyond my meager ability to repair. So, I decided to purge and reinstall: I followed these steps:

apt clean; apt update; apt purge cuda; apt purge nvidia-*; apt autoremove; apt install cuda

I rebooted, and found things now seem to be working as expected:

$ nvidia-smi

Wifi connection keeps droping in ubuntu 22.04 desktop LTS

I can't install/uninstall .deb packages because dpkg is being interrupted

Whenever I try to install/uninstall any .deb packages I got this error:

dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'

When I run sudo dpkg --configure -a, then the /etc/default/grub goes into an loop:

QEMU VM network bridge in WLAN/Wifi

Host (Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS) is connected through WLAN/Wifi.

My goal:

  • QEMU VM (Linux Kernel created with buildroot) has it's own local IP address, host can reach VM through this IP address
  • it doesn't matter, if the VM has internet or is reachable from somewhere else than the host
  • host has a separate IP address, therefore NAT is unsuitable

I have trying to simulate 5G network using free5gc and ueransim. I have managed to simulate the connection. But, my next aim is to use iperf3 to check bandwidth. However, my free5gc device is only showing only ipv6 address from which I haven't been able to connect server and client using iperf3 -B [ipv6] command.

How to manually upgrade MariaDB 10.6.7 to 10.6.11

I have had MariaDB installed on my server for a while now. I previously used sudo apt install mariadb-server to install.

I wish to upgrade this to 10.6.11 as this is the newest stable LTS version, but the Ubuntu distro only has 10.6.7 and won't allow me to upgrade using apt upgrade mariadb-server.

I have tried removing the server using apt remove mariadb-server, then adding the repo:

Studio Controls is supposed to create bridges automatically between PulseAudio and JACK.

This works perfectly for the built-in sound card (ThinkBook 14).

I Can't delete files after booting into Windows 10

I have a dual boot, Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10. After booting into Windows 10, I can no longer delete any files or folders in Ubuntu. Even if I open Nautilus as sudo it will still not allow me to delete anything. It does show a lock on the drive folders in /mnt/Drive_Folder.
