Use tablet as Input [USB/HDMI or Bluetooth]
us flag

I recently bought a tablet that runs Android and it has USB-C and HDMI. I would like to use it as a graphic tablet, connected to my laptop, which runs Ubuntu 20. I often use softwares as Inkscape or GIMP, and I would like to display them on my tablet and work on them on it.

I already tried with Weylus, but, since it is working via Wi-Fi connection, there is an annoying lag that makes it really hard ...

Why do I see login requests for various ports although the router and the firewall only permit port 22?
cn flag

I want to login into the Desktop of my Ubuntu 18.04 machine remotely from the internet.

I therefore enabled port forwarding for port 22 in my (fritz.box) router.

Additionally I activated the firewall and allowed only requests to port 22 from outside:

$ sudo ufw status

I installed Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS next to Windows and I had a problem with booting. I can only run Ubuntu using Live-USB ("Try Ubuntu"). I turned off Secure Boot, turned off Hibernation and installed Boot-repair and used it, but it didn't help.

When I mount my USB drive, all Chinese characters of names of files/directories are displayed as question marks

When I create or rename a file with Chinese characters(like 我的源程序.c) on Windows, and reboot it to Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, and mount it with sudo mount /dev/sdb4 /mnt, and use ls /mnt command, it shows ?????.c.
I used sudo mount /dev/sdb4 /mnt -o iocharset=utf8, but it did not work.

Mouse behavior changes randomly (left button and scroll wheel)

I am running a wireless mouse on Ubuntu 21.04. This issue started just under a week ago. No previous issue before that.

Problem 1: When I click left button on link it should just go to the page. Now sometimes it opens a new window. Once this happens, it will continue to do so until I go to terminal and type xev and move the mouse. Then it is good for a little bit but then the problem returns a ...

Monitor power saving not activating in 20.04
vn flag

The screen starts to dim but then when it's all black the backlight doesn't turn off and the cursor is still showing.

Could this have something to do with the "no suitable video mode found" (relating to hwmode in grub) error I used to get at boot? I googled workarounds and now it's gone but the issue I'm having might be ralated.

I'm on a Intel iGPU (i5-6500T).

VNC doesn't work in Ubuntu 21.10!
uy flag

I'm desperately trying to trying to enable remote desktop on Ubuntu 21.10, in a way that could allow me to view and control the desktop even when there is no monitor attached to the computer. I've tried all the following solutions and softwares:

  • RealVNC server: doesn't work with Wayland and requires an account
  • TigerVNC: I wasn't able to view the desktop, perhaps incompatible with Wayland?
  • TightVNC

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
