Ubuntu 20.04 nvidia driver reset
cn flag

I'm new to Ubuntu 20.04 and I found out the Additional Driver can install required Nvidia driver preferred by the OS.
Although, it works fine after installing but after every month (roughly) somehow the driver gets reset or something causing weird graphics rendering issue and sluggish behavior of the desktop.
This thing could be resolved by switching to other driver (which is aparently not recommend ...

How to change my PCI bridge? Using Intel Xeon Graphics instead of Nvidia GTX
in flag

First of all I'd like to say that I'm new to Ubuntu (former Windows user), so this might be a noob question. By the way, I was trying to play Rocket League using Heroic Games Launcher, but the performance is awful. I am sure that I am using my Intel Integrated Graphics instead of my Nvidia GPU. Here my overall specs:

Intel i5 8500 3 GHz GTX 1060 6gb 16gb RAM 2666 (2x8)

In Windows, I can use Rocket L ...

If I check why, by issuing: service apache2 status

On 18,04 upgrade to 20.04: "Do you want to Start" Dialog too high, buttons not visible
eg flag

Running Xubuntu Xfce 4.12 My laptop screen is 7.5 inches high inside bezel. The dialog box is too tall and doesn't show "cancel" and "ok" buttons. The window "resize" command is greyed. How do I respond? Now I'm not so sure I want to upgrade from 18.04. Can I just restart Linux? How can I cancel the upgrade?

Names of gnome-shell power-off/restart/logout dialogs
in flag

In the latest versions of gnome-shell the power-off/restart dialog has been split into separate dialogs (compare Ubuntu 20.04 with 21.10). Along with the log-out dialog they are all themed by the entries for end-session-dialog in gnome-shell.css. Do the individual dialogs have names so that they can be themed independently, e.g. the last-child could have a different background color in each?

Track speed of Mouse?
ar flag

I am creating an app that makes it so that when you move your mouse really fast, the mouse gets bigger for a second. This is a behavior I was used to when I used Mac a long time ago.

I need a way to track the speed/acceleration of the mouse in the terminal so I can see when to make the mouse get bigger.

I am looking for a terminal command that can track the speed of the mouse cursor.

Stop ubuntu (20.04 AND 21.10) from shutting down automatically from lock screen?
in flag

Ubuntu is now auto shutting down after some period if I do not log in (hard wired keyboard) i.e. if I leave the desktop in the lock screen.

I do not yet understand why.

It does not shutdown if I log in.

I have also notices that it the screen sleep fails for a while now (while logged in).

I have it set to auto-reboot on power failure and want it to behave as a server.

Hide workspace sidebar
tr flag

If I set a multiple (dynamic) workspaces option in gnome, the sidebar of an empty workspace doesn't hide until I open a window, a folder, or something. However, the open sidebar hides some desktop folders that are therefore inaccessible directly from the Desktop just like in this picture.

The sidebar doesn't go away if I click on an empty place on the desktop or any other way. How can I make the sideba ...

Battery Indicator on MacBook Pro late 2012 retina inaccurate
fr flag

The battery indicator while booted into Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS is very inaccurate. True example: When I unplug the charger, it will instantly say that it is low after over 24hrs of charging. And when it says it's time to charge the battery, it lasts over an hour until it really dies. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
