Brave browser windows moved from original position at edge of screen on app restart in Ubuntu 20.04
in flag

I have a large screen and have several Brave browser windows open side-by-side expanded to take up half the screen width, all the way to the edges. This is fairly easily accomplished in Gnome by dragging to either one or the other edge, but recently (within the last few months) the browser windows have begun restoring indented by at least 10 pixels from the edges of the screen (both horizontally and ver ...

Not receiving serial data through Raspberry Pi UART

I'm trying to connect a Pi Pico to my Raspberry Pi 4, running Ubuntu Server 21.04, via serial UART. I know the pins and connections are correct because the same connection works perfectly on a Raspbian install. On Ubuntu, however, I simply don't receive anything when I run picocom /dev/ttyS0.

Ubuntu 20.04 - multiseat without gui or only one seat?
mn flag

I have multiseat working mostly in Ubuntu 20.04 but I have to run systemctl isolate graphical.target

I don't need the gui on seat0 and it would be nice to have cli available on seat1. Is it possible to have multiseat with only getty running on seat0 and seat1? When is disable the gui there's no tty/login prompt on seat1.

If that's not easy to setup then seat0 could be CLI (or startx later), and s ...

Significant audio lag in davinci resolve when using pipewire
cn flag

I'm using pipewire on an Ubuntu system, and it's been reported that this is the cause of serious audio lag in Davinci Resolve.

The advice given is to "instal pulseaudio-alsa" but I don't want to use pulseaudio over pipewire.

How can I fix this massive (~1s) audio lag while still using pipewire?

When using Davinci Resolve, "H.264 and 265 require the paid version on Linux"

FFMpeg comes boxed with Ubuntu, and can be used to convert video files. What filetype should they be converted to, and what extra arguments might one use.

I've tried converting to mp4, and avi but the files were still unreadable in resolve.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
