Can you use mixed block size in an LVM, ie: 512 and 4096?
jp flag

Is it still recommended not to use two different block sizes on an LVM? I have two hard drives one is 512 and one is 4096. I have one drive that is 3 gigs that is 4096 sectors and a 2 gig drive that is 512 sectors. When I created an LVM group, I got this error warning:

devices have inconsistent physical block sizes 4096 and 512.

I found it was not recommended to have two different physical block sizes ...

Gnome Shell Extension disables highlight?
ru flag

Zack here. I have installed a gnome extension: Panel Date Format. I put in my settings and all that, and next thing I know, my clock no longer highlights when I hover over it. It's not anything with my theme, because when I disable the extension, it highlights again. Is there a way to mod the extension to make it highlight on hover again? GNOME version is 40.4. Thanks

SGX error while booting kubuntu
fr flag

I had updated Win 10 to Win 11 on 9th Oct, and dual booted Kubuntu 20.04.3 LTS on 16th oct but unfortunately on 15th Nov, exactly 30 days later Kubuntu fails to boot up and shows "SGX disabled by BIOS". I am 100% sure that I did not mess around with any of the boot files or any other root directories, and neither did I make any change to the BIOS, so I don't understand why did this error pop up, but Win ...

Screen noise after resume from suspend or switch to tty (Ctrl+Alt+Fx)

[ RESOLVED ] See answers and comments.

Since a recent kernel upgrade, my notebook screen shows a completely noisy image like an analog television without signal, whenever resuming from shutdown, or when switching to a virtual tty terminal (Ctrl+Alt+Fx). The noise is only on the LCD, not on the extended HDMI screen.

The problem does not show on other computers, so it must be hardware related. When re ...

Switching boot USB themes

So I started making my own Linux ISO based on Ubuntu, using Cubic. I uninstalled GNOME and installed Budgie. I flashed the ISO onto a drive. When I boot into the install interface, however, if I press my keyboard immediately, it gives me the unpolished Ubuntu interface, and if I wait, it boots into the new Ubuntu interface with the Budgie theme. How do I make it so that it immediately boots into the Bud ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
