Create child directories from parent directory
cn flag
ray

A parent directory has many directories, for example:

cd parent

cd parent
ls
ALA_31_C ALA_31_D ALA_31_G ALA_31_L

cd ALA_31_C
ls

Similarly, I need to create it for all remaining directories: ALA_31_D, ALA_31_G and ALA_31_L from the parent directo ...

I have an issue where not all my RAM is showing up in the settings but it is in the BIOS so I know it’s not a faulty stick. It’s a Lenovo idea pad slim 3 running 21.04. I don’t have any swap. It’s low voltage DDR4. It used to be 8 GB but has now dropped to 5.6.

Screen tearing with NVIDIA 470 drivers
bd flag

A bit of a puzzling one for me here:

System: XPS 17 (9700) with RTX 2060 Ubuntu 21.04

Somehow when I run the Nouveau drivers in a Wayland session everything is fine, but when I run the NVIDIA 470 drivers I get a lot of screen tearing.

Any idea what could cause this?

Thanks

First off, I will say that I am a complete newbie and novice to Ubuntu. Currently, I am running 20.04.3 LTS.

So I have been dealing with a RAT that first infected my Windows PC and I highly suspect spread to my Android cellphone. I reinstalled Windows several times after wiping the hard drive and it kept coming back. So I switched to Ubuntu as a temporary fix.

I inserted an old internal SSD (which should have been in good health / not corrupted) into a USB enclosure, but I can't get any data from it.

My old Kubuntu laptop with an encrypted (LUKS) SSD (Samsung MZ-VLV5120 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe 2280) stopped working. I took it into a shop, and they figured that some power-related component was destroyed. They replaced it, and the laptop cam ...

I'm currently experiencing the log-in loop bug, and I found out that the .Xauthority file isn't in my home drive at all, but rather inside /run/user/1000/gdm/Xauthority. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
