How to get apt Post-Invoke script to run only when a specific package is updated?
us flag

I've added an apt Post-Invoke script in

/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/80update

to run after each apt update.

How can I make it so, my script only runs when a specific package has been updated (or installed), rather than for all invocations of apt update or apt install?

There is no longer an issue with the graphics driver but now Ubuntu whines continually that

Hybrid Ubuntu with /home in an hdd encrypted
es flag

So, I bought an SSD and I'm planning to install Ubuntu 20.04 in it. As I've read before if I do a full disk encryptation I may lose SSD performance. So I thought about doing this:

I want to install the system in the SSD but move the /home to a HDD. The tricky part is that I want just the HDD (and my sensitive content) to be encrypted.
How could I make this?

How to recover an overriten partition?

So I thought I try something fancy today and learn how to use the terminal to install a raspberry pi image on a flash drive. The result was not as I imagined.

Apparently I've overwritten my partition containing / and all the important stuff. Which I've only realised after starting my pc up again. (I didn't noticed it for 5h)

The only folders I've left on a different partition are:

How can I apply security patches consistently across servers and time?

I need a way to apply security patches to my Ubuntu systems consistently across servers and time. For example, if I apply security patches to System A and after it is tested, I would like to apply THE SAME PATCHES to System B 4 weeks later. What tool or process do I use to apply those same patches to System B 4 weeks later without any new patches being incorporated?

How to trouble-shoot crashing apps when memory usage runs high?

When memory usage reaches around 85% (including buff/cache), electron apps (i.e. VS Code, Chrome and Spotify and Slack) crashes if running and won't open if not.

No other applications crash or show any signs of being slow.

I reboot, and the problem is solved for a couple of hours until memory have stacked up, and it occurs again.

How do I troubleshoot and resolve this issue?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
