Ubuntu started randomly segfaulting after force power off due to usage of RAM
in flag

So I accidentally ran a script which used up all of the RAM on my ubuntu system, and I had to force it to power off. When I rebooted the system, programs would randomly segfault, even though I changed nothing and they had never done this before. How would I fix my server so that these programs start working again? I've already tried reinstalling them via APT, but that doesn't seem to help.

Disks reports that my SSD "Disk is OK. 3 bad sectors".

Do SSDs automatically move data off of bad sectors, or should I assume I lost some files or data that were on those sectors?

I'm new to Ubuntu and have been enjoying it a lot. I've installed Wine, Lutris, VeraCrypt, Discord and a handful of other things and my system frequently freezes completely and leaves no information in any of the logs that I've been able to read in /vars/logs so I have literally no clue why this is happening.

There is an empty area at corner side.

Is there any good solution?

The height of title bar in GNOME is really wide. Is there a way to make it narrow without installing any extension or theme? Title bar of File manager and Terminal is wide and looks ugly. I love how narrow the title bar of Unity on Ubuntu was. I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 GNOME: 3.36.8

I'm trying to create/deploy a VPN to solve a connection issue regarding a game I'm playing (Xbox). For this, I'm setting up a VPN on a EC2 machine on AWS and I want to connect from a home router. I have tried VPN services (ExpressVPN) but they offer 2 alternatives.

Why Can't dd Create a Bootable ISO from an Ubuntu VM?
cn flag

I have an Ubuntu 21.04 guest in VirtualBox, on either Linux or Windows hosts. I can run dd (from that guest or from some other boot in the VM) to create an image of the guest, or to clone it to an external drive.

If dd can do those things, why can it not create a bootable ISO of the Ubuntu guest? Or if it can, could someone please describe the procedure?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
