My mac ubuntu is overheating

I changed my operating system on my MacBookPro11,3 to ubuntu and as soon as I did that I started having overheating issues. As soon as I turn it on even if I just open the terminal and do pretty much nothing it starts to get hot. It wasn’t like that with mac os. The battery is very bad now too. I am new to linux and I really don’t know what I should do. Can anyone help me?

Laptop's trackpad locks/unlocks with down arrow press

I am using Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS on Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Pro. The down arrow press toggles trackpad lock on/off instead of functioning as an arrow-key.

"showkey" command returns keycode 191 for down arrow. Hence, on .Xmodmap, I tried changing "keycode 191 = XF86Tools NoSymbol XF86Tools" to "keycode 191 = Down NoSymbol Down" but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

unable to boot into ubuntu after resizing windows partition

I installed Ubuntu alongside windows (The option called: "installing Ubuntu alongside Windows Boot Manager")

Quickly realizing that I had not allocated a sufficient amount of space, I rebooted into Windows, and shrunk the partition by some ~50gb.

Now when I try to boot into ubuntu it goes straight to grub (not rescue), and I have a bunch of options using ls (i.e (hd0), (hd1), (hd0,gpt1) ...) None ...

Currently only 2021 version of TeX Live is available in Ubuntu 22.04 repositories. (Kinetic already has 2022 version however.) Is there a ppa with 2022 version of TeX Live that one could use without upgrading to Ubuntu 22.10 or installing TeX Live "by hand?"

On Ubuntu 20.04 I was unable to run x11vnc in systemd somehow. The first login screen comes up, but after login it gets stuck on the black screen. This issue is killing me for 2 days. PS: It 's running without systemd, I mean If I run x11vnc on the terminal, it s working properly.

I fresh-installed Ubuntu 22.04, using wayland. I know it should be related to gnome, but I find it absurd, it's such a useful thing!

temporary freeze when plugging external screen

I have a decent laptop (thinkpad t14s)(ubuntu 20.04), with ~10 GUI apps open.

When I plugin my 2 external screen (1 HDMI and 1 usb type C)(or unplug on of them), there is a pretty long (30sec to 1min) freeze (first black screen, then frozen gnome GUI )

It looks like the GUI env. is slow to adapt to the monitor configuration change. Any idea how to speed up this process?
