How can I update Wine, without uninstalling it?
co flag

As per title, how can I update Wine without uninstalling it?

Seems a noob question, but it's first time that I find my self to upgrade Wine.

Wine, today it is at the stable version 7.0, and in the past I have installed version 6.0.1 on my computer. If I write the command apt search winehq-stable, this result comes out:

winehq-stable / now 6.0.1 ~ hirsute-1 amd64 [installed]

Temporarily grant Pulseaudio access to another local user?
cn flag

I'm looking to run programs as another user on my Ubuntu MATE 20.04 system without making any persistent system changes such as setting up a systemwide daemon or editing configuration files. The programs are one-off instances, run via ssh or su.

I have granted access to the display server by running xhost +si:localuser:$altaccount, and sent the pulse cookie across via pax11publish -S /run/user/$UID/pulse ...

How to set MTU PERMANENTLY in CLI
br flag

I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 in WSL2, and cannot for the life of me permanently set the MTU. No matter what I do, after rebooting, it's 1500 again. I had the same problem running Ubuntu natively, and switched to windows because Ubuntu doesn't work over VPN because the MTU is wrong.

Is there really no way to permanently set the MTU?

I tried /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf

Many failures trying to re-install ubuntu
nr flag

My situation has just gone from bad to worse. First I had an issue that suddenly started with a black screen with just a cursor. I spent a couple of days trying to fix it. Now I've decided to reinstall (I do have my files backed up).

So, I begin the reinstall, and it failed with a 'executing grub-install failed this is a fatal error".

OK. So then I tried again, and now I'm getting a ubi-partman  ...

Is there a way to install new software on ARM64 Ubuntu on M1 Mac running on Parallels?
gq flag

There is no software center, Pamac, or whatever it is called in Ubuntu. I can run what is installed and I can update to 21.10 but there is no way to install new software. Is that on purpose because there is little that is compatible with an M1 Mac or is this a glitch?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
