Windows works with no issues at 1440p 144Hz with free-sync premium enabled

The monitor turns on for a second then turns off for about 2 seconds and repeats. At 120Hz it works well though. But I really like to use my monitor's native refresh rate.

Settings also seem to detect wrongly my monitor as it says Samsung Electric company 32" But my monitor is only 27"

I have had an HP officejet 7000 for 5 years and it has always worked perfectly with ubuntu. I updated to Ubuntu 20.04 lts six months ago and it still worked fine. Then after a routing 'security' upgrade it suddenly stopped printing colours correctly. Instead of normal colours it printed an apparently random range of colours. Black and greyscale work perfectly. Mouse doesn't work but lights up
cn flag

I use a wireless mouse with a laptop running Ubuntu 21.10. The mouse is part of a keyboard-mouse combo, which means that the USB dongle connects both. There are no other input devices connected, like a graphics tablet or keypad.

I went through my usual cleaning routine in the laptop. I ran these commands in a terminal:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo reboot
sudo apt clean
sudo apt autoclean

Static noise in microphone only when webcam is on
ml flag

I'm having this weird issue ever since updating to Ubuntu 21.10 (I know it's not stable, but had to update due to work). The microphone works fine when recording with arecord or online recording tools, but as soon as I turn on the webcam it starts making a very loud static noise, this happens in google meet, and even local recording tools. I've tried messing around with pavucontrol, alsamixer with no suc ...

Dell xps microphone distortion

I installed ubuntu on a dell xps laptop thinking everything would be compatible. It seemed to work fine after installation, except for the sound, and on that point, there are a number of problems.

Most importantly: microphone captures sound with such extreme distortion that no conversation is possible in webchat. Same distortion on video capture.

There are various other problems as well, but most im ...

Recently all my audio disappeared in Ubuntu Studio 21.10 with KDE desktop.

It all worked fine until today, and now there is no audio. I installed Kmix and the sound came back, but in the KDE System Settings program it no longer lists any section for Audio, which was there before.

The volume icon had disappeared from the main Panel, but one reappeared after installing Kmix, at which point audio was w ...

Recently, I wanted to change the Ubuntu startup menu (Applications menu see below for the 9 dot square icon) to a different icon. After I booted with HDMI monitor plugged in, nvidia settings see only one monitor, not two (when plugged in after boot). In such configuration, sometimes it won't wake up after inactivity sleep. The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
