Pressing Ctrl closes browser tab

I'm encountering abnormal behavior with Ctrl key in my browser. Sometimes, when I press the Ctrl key, it closes the browser's tab. I had this issue with Firefox, but I tried this with another browser and it showed the same behavior. Apart from this, everything works fine and as expected.

What have I tried?

  • Pressing Right Ctrl key and it also closes the tab.
  • Checking key binding in settings, but found  ...

In ssh, what is the id_rsa_opay file?

I set up an rsa key in .ssh on an IBM iSeries(V7R4) using OpenSSH_8.0p1. Running ssh -vT [email protected]. I get

debug1: Will attempt key: /home/<user>/.ssh/id_rsa_opay

There is no such file. There is ".ssh/id_rsa". The signon is failing because of this. Any ideas about what is going on here?

Despite seeing multiple threads here about the same problem, i couldn't follow them.

Why has put an executable name in /etc/sudoers, but run it still get asked password?

This is what I have inserted in the file /etc/sudoers by the command $ sudo visudo /etc/sudoers (user name illustrative)

$ ls -l /usr/bin/lsblk

Fingerprint reader stopped working after motherboard replaced

I have a 6-month-old Lenovo T14s Gen 3 (Intel) laptop, with Ubuntu 22.04.2. It died suddenly, so Lenovo replaced the motherboard. Now the fingerprint reader won't allow me to record prints. I have done a "factory reset" of the fingerprint reader in the BIOS. I've also (before that) tried deleting all records using fprintd.

But now/still, when I run "fprintd-enroll", I get:

Bluetooth cycles between off and "No Bluetooth Found" Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

Bluetooth appears to cycle between "Bluetooth Turned Off" and "No Bluetooth Found", and toggling it on makes no difference, the slider says that it's on, but it still doesn't work. The only way to stop it is to reboot the computer.

It happens after i just turn off bluetooth after using it, but not right after the reboot, so i can't replicate it immediately, and i have to wait.

Logs say Bluetooth: hci0:  ...

I am trying to PXE kickstart Ubuntu 22 using Cobbler, but I am getting error

/init: line 49: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found

I believe when boot files are loaded, it's trying USB or CD drive and failing from there.
Steps taken:

  • Extract Ubuntu 22 Server ISO File and copy the files and directories needed for PXE boot.

  • Cobbler import

     sudo sudo cobbler import --path=/services/ubuntu22/ --name=xx-Ub ...

Firing up my VPN automagically on start-up

I have a VPN configured in NetworkManager using nm-connection-editor.

Boot and all is fine and my wired is up, and if I then click the VPN in the thing at top right then it starts perfectly.

If I use nm-connection-editor to tell the wired connection to automatically connect to the VPN, then on boot I get no wired and obvs no VPN.

Someone gifted me this line which works perfectly to start the VPN  ...

In kwrite, how do you change the UI theme to dark mode?

In Kwrite, the default theme is light, making the UI look like this:

How do I install Ubuntu Server on my partition when the "Done" option was greyed out completely?

Hey there! I'm trying to switch to wayland from X and some issues have been emerging in the daily use of my machine. First, when opening up the qBittorrent, I cannot maximize it when double clicking on the top bar, and it doesn't comply with my Scaling Factor, and stays small, which is really bad. And mpv doesn't even have a top bar!

Ubuntu set network speed at 100

I recently reinstalled Ubuntu, and I have a gigabit internet connection. Previously, I was able to achieve speeds of around 400 Mbps (limited by my old motherboard that doesn't support gigabit internet). However, after reinstalling Ubuntu, I noticed that the network settings now indicate a connection speed of 100 Mbps instead of 1000 Mbps. And i have no idea why, same cables. Can i fix it somehow?

Tiling manager with a GUI?

I have a ultra wide monitor running Ubuntu 22. I want a tiling layout manager - basically something with a GUI I can use to create a handful of layouts and be able to switch easily between them. I looked at i3, awesome, and bspwm but honestly that looks like a lot of work and I don't really want to mess with that.

Terminator: disable middle click closing the tabs

I want to stop Terminator (Ubuntu-22.04) to close the current tab if i middle click on the tab title. I often close the tabs accidentally when there is a process running in the current tab.

I am using x11 as display manager.

I do not want to disable the middle button entirely because i use this to paste.
