WSL2 Ubuntu won't launch on Windows 11 Home
im flag

As mentioned in the GitHub issue I went to Windows Security but both vmvp.exe and vmcompute.exe didn't have any overrides, also there is no override called Code Flow Guard, but two overrides called Code Integrity Guard and Control Flow Guard ( I suspect this is due to Windows 11 ).

overrides for vmcomputeCFG unchecked

I still get this error so if anyone could clarify it would be greatly appreciated ubuntu wsl2 error

Hotspot worked in Win 10 but not in Ubuntu (no AP mode)
us flag

I used to run Windows 10 on my computer and used the Hotspot function with no problem. I have switched to Ubuntu 20.04 and now hot-spotting doesn't work, as when i run iw list I get:

Supported interface modes:
         * IBSS
         * managed

so no AP mode. Is there any solution to this?

I copied some files into a USB flash drive but when I navigate to it, it just displays empty folders. When I try to copy them again, it asks me to if I want to replace, so the files seem to be there but they're not showing. What could I do about this?

Install snap downloaded from the web?
in flag

I need to use the application Quirkos, and for some reason they provide Linux versions as a snap package, which is not in any of the snap repos. Thus, the snap has to be downloaded from their homepage and installed manually.

What is the safest way to do this? As far as I can see, they do not even provide any way of verifying the download.

If at all, I would like to install the snap in a strict sand ...

Slow Boot on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

I upgraded from a previous version of Ubuntu to 20.4 LTS and the boot up takes minutes when it used to take seconds. I get a lot of acpi errors but suspect these are a red herring. Instead it eventually say "giving up wait for resume/suspend device". I suspect that some configuration file has a UUID for a disk that doesn't exist any more. This is borne out by running

I recently updated from ubuntu 21.04 to ubuntu 21.10. I have been using GEDIT as it helps saving the last cursor position after closing the file. After upgrade, every time I open a text file, the cursor sits at the top of the file.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
